If you do insist on using IE after you get things cleared up, you should install BHODemon (get it at MajorGeeks link) It alerts you if someone tries to install Browser Helper Objects.

You're going to need HijackThis http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html run it and look through the log, delete anything that has ads234 in the name. If you're not sure about something, DON'T delete it. Do a Google search for anything you're not sure about. Some items that look bad are really things you need. You may need to reboot after removal, then run HJ again and see if it still shows up. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 removals&reboots to get rid of a hijacker. Once yo

I've always been able to have different skins and icon packages in different user accounts. Now I can't even get the same skin in the user account. Just some Win98-looking skin with the coloring of the skin I'm trying to apply. Skanjo, where exactly in your registry did you find these keys? I must be looking in the wrong place or not recognizing them when I'm looking at them.

I agree about Mandrake, it's an easy install [20 minutes], just don't lose your root password [voice of experience]. If you want to give Linux a spin there are a couple distros that you run right form the CD, nothing written to disk, also you can pop it in any PC anywhere and boot up into Linux.
