Success!...for the most part. I had to do a repair reinstall of Windows and then use Partition Magic to change all paths from C to F [letter of my new drive] Still a few tweaks to make to restore everything. Firefox won't run except in Safemode, even after uninstalling, removing registry keys, and reinstalling. I'm still looking through the Mozilla sites for a fix. Thanks Yrag, FUzzy,Jafo and others for the pointers. I'm still not sure Drive Image is all it claims, especially now that any

Well, the only way I'm able to post this is by booting up with a Knoppix CD I burned a while back. I repartitioned my original drive so I could make a compressed backup to the new partition with DI7, but now I can't boot up at all, normal, safemode, anything. I guess I'll do a fresh install of Windows on the new drive and then try to figure a waay to get all my data off the old drive. This isn't exactly how I planned to spend my vacation. Yrag, I tried booting with the DOS setup disk from t

I'm back home now. Dad is doing well, though now he has to stay home for a few weeks until he can have the second surgery. As far as the HDD issue, I've reformatted the new drive, updated everything on my original drive, defragged, AV'ed, spyware clean etc... now I'm going to try this again. Keep your fingers crossed

I know guys who work for Sprint who got Verizon plans becouse they couldn't get a signal with Sprint PCS also I'm told that if you DL ringtones from Sprint, they expire after a month and you have to buy them all over again! [episode of TSS]

I bought Drive Image 7.0 but if you read my Hard drive thread you'll see that it's not all going well. That may not be the fault of the software though. I'm sure I'll get the problem resolved, but DI7 was bought by Symantec, so trying to get help from their site is an exercise in futility [and frustration!] Some of the IT guys at work swear by NOrton Ghost, but again that leaves you dealing with Symantec's maze-of-a-website if you need support. Thanks for your support, guys. My dad had angioplasty today, now he has to wait a few weeks before he can have an anuerysm [sp] repaired, which is what put him in the hospital to begin with. Anyway, thanks again, I should be back home in a couple or three days. Man, my dad has a LOT of CRAP on his PC! of course every time I clean things up and a few days later he gets some piece of spyware he calls me up

Had Sprint PCS and ATnT, both decent, but Verizon beats them both hands down. At work all the Mgrs have NExtels, we even have a booster antenna on the building, and they still cant get a signal unles they stand under the antenna. I can walk all over the building with my Verizon and get reception. My sister has Cingular, and she has dropped calls left and right, everyone I know that has Cingular hates them. Sprint PCS had almost the same coverage as Verizon, but billing and customer service w

Well, it looks like I'll be out of town for a few days, my Dad is having heart surgery tomorrow, so I'll be heading up to help him and my Mom for a few days. Hopefully I can get the hard drive issues sorted out when I get back. Family has to take priority. Thanks everyone for all the insight, I'll be checking in on the boards from my folks PC

Well, I erased my partitions on the new drive, and reformatted it as one partition. Then defragged C drive, and recopied C onto E. All that with the same results. Everything is hooked up right and the jumpers are right. It's now going on 12:30AM and I have to be up in a few hours, so I'll have another go at it tomorrow. Thanks to all for you suggestions. Goodnight ...and I think Yrag and Chi

Sorry, IP, I was typing while you posted. It doesn't boot at all, just craps out after the BIOS screen. It tries for a couple minutes and then times out and says to install the proper boot device.

Fuzy, I did try using the PQRE but wasn't able to open new drive that way,and I made sure the new partition is larger than my C drive. Jafo may be right, the copy may have gotten corrupted somehow. Yrag, it's Western Digital I partitioned the drive so that I can install a Linux OS on the second partition for a dual-boot set-up. Would I be better off to wipe the new drive and copy the original drive to that, then let the Linux installer do the partitioning? BTW, I'm moving from a

I recently got a new HDD. I hooked it up as a slave and used Drive Image 7.0 to copy my drive C to the E partition on the new drive using the app included to clone your drive, OS and all to a new one. I ed to make the E drive bootable, according to the directions, as well. I then switched the jumper on the new drive to the Master setting, hooked up the Master IDE cable to it and tried to boot up from the new drive. However that isn't working. I entered the BIOS and confirmed that it is reco

Are you using CTU-24 ? I did a search of the logons and couldn't find the one you mentioned. I don't think logons from other sites work well with Logonstudio. Did you get it from this site?

7 Replies 705 Views

What happens when you apply the Logon screen, does it apply it then? You may need to uninstall and re-install since it doesn't sound like you're getting anywhere. Anyone else want to jump in here?

Bootskins aand Logon studio are separate apps, the way you phrased your question sounds like you're referring to only one. You are using Windows XP aren't you? You also need to choose a new Logon screen from the ones supplied with the app or DL them from this site. Have you done that? I haven't used Bootskins, but I believe that a good number of folks have had problems with it, so check the boards for threads on that topic and you may get your answer. And more specifics in your question wou
