I hate phones. Virtually the only people who could get me on the phone are my mother or my girlfriend (when I have one).

Oh, man... In at least one sense, it benefits Letterman. Since restraining orders are double-edged swords, this also keeps her away from him. But since it's not good to have such a thing on one's record, I can see why he's fighting it, and I hope he's also seeking a restraining order against her. She's a good example of just how messed up some people can become in their beliefs and perceptions. It's sad. Too ba

Ooooo, a comment! The new title is working. Man... so much hatred and so little substance. Hey, you forgot to call me a "neo-con." I think your definition of "hatred" is a little too loose, and

Punishing the registered owner for a crime that may have been committed by someone else ins't very American. Neither is punishing an innocent driver when the vehicle is in violation, in my opinion. The only ticket I ever got was while driving someone else's car which they hadn't kept their registration current on. I think the

Wow. Okay, I'm open to suggestions on a new title, because this one didn't sink like a stone, it never got off the beach . When I originally planned to write it, it was called, "Liberals' Litmus Tests No Better than Conservatives'." But after seeing strike after strike on top of firings after firings, I decided to expand it, leading to a very awkward and apparently very uninteresting title.

I hate the word, but I have to say it -- Hypocrites! Liberals' litmus tests and holiday surprises are no tastier than the Conservative versions they condemn. Liberals cried far and loud at how the evil Christian Conservative Right "railroaded" Harriet Miers because "she wouldn't promise to overturn Roe v. Wade." You'd think the "far right of the Republican party" was murdering babies in a back alley. (Wait, bad example. In that case Libs would applaud the Right fo

The Euro's hate the death penalty and they hate us for loving it. So when Austrian-born California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger refused to grant clemency to convicted murderer Stanley "Tookie" Williams, many in the old country threw a fit. Austria's Green Party suggested Arnold be stripped of his Austrian citizenship. Officials in his hometown of Graz have threatened to remove Arnold's name from their stadium and rechristen it after Tookie. The idea is scheduled for a January 19t

You just don't seem to get it do you? After 9/11 EVERYTHING changed "INCLUDING" your vaunted 93 ruling! Terrorist attacks change legal precedents? Really? I'm sure the terrorists will be delighted to hear that.

You think American reality TV can be mean? The Brits just had a series that whittled ten contestants down to three who were told they were becoming Britain's first space tourists. The winning would-be astronauts were whisked to "Russia" for training before blasting off into space. In reality, they never left England. Ipswich stood in for the cosmonaut training camp. Their "space ship" actually sat in a Suffolk warehouse. One of the red-faced almost-nauts said, "We're not

Franky likes to eat weed...and yes, he gets all goofy for a while and then suffers from the munchies too, lol. Did anyone hear about the owl this week? A Florida family found an owl in their Christmas tree. It had apparently been there since they bought it five days earlier. As they approached it, they wondered, "What is that smell?"

Most Americans may not have noticed, insular and self-obsessed as we are, but there have been serious racial conflicts going on in Australia. It started when a group of Lebanese-Australians attacked some lifeguards on a beach. Then a bunch of Aussie equivalents to drunken good ol' boys went out to settle the score. You've heard of soccer hooligans? Think beach ball hooligans and you're on the right track. It's been the proverbial snowball rolling down hill ever since. Th

There's no parallel here; spying on citizens without cause is hardly the democratice thing to do; revealing the identity of a CIA agent is unlawful. Why you gotta make me agree with Portrait of the Artist as an Old Blogger? Why?!

I don't know about Jesus, but Judas could certainly hang. If there was a good breeze, Judas could even swing a little.

Did you catch the story about the man who caught the baby? I'm glad that worked out okay, but ...wow... just too risky. It reminds me of an old joke with almost exactly the same circumstances, but instead of an amateur baseball player, the catcher is various actual pro-football players. (I remember hearing it as Rosie Greer.) He catc
