and I don't know if it is because someone tagged me with an insightful, or if there has been activity on old blogs I haven't gone back to in a while. BakerStreet, do you have the option checked that sets all of your articles to automatically email if they get a comment? It's not quite as good a

How much of it did you sit through? I'm on dial up. It didn't take too long after seeing it was 34+ megs for me to kill it. thats something that deserves to be taken down and lost. I'm trying to get the word out. For what it's wo
I don't mind a little hyperbole. In fact there is so much hyperbole these days that if a product doesn't have some you begin wondering what is wrong with it. Most studio gimmicks are easy to see through if you're in the least bit hip to the game. What bothers me about this little tactic so much is that if you hadn't seen the "Ebert and Roeper" show or caught them on the Tonight Show (so that you knew what Ebert's real feelings ar
*BLUSH* Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. I appreciate it. Your "What a Jeopardy Champion Could Teach the Lakers" article at least had substance...lol Just wait for Mary Kate to get old and have a few kids, then she'll have
Here's how I described Google Bombing way back in my second article: 'The gist of google bombing is that Google's results are based partly on the text used to link to a site. Theoretically if enough sites used the text "Gene Nash" to link to my site, I would again make the list and hopefully rise back to the top. The primary and
Oh My God, I'm 30 and everything is wrong. Wait till you hit 34 and it's still spinning wildly out of control. And welcome to JU.
There's a check box on the form you use to submit your articles. It is right below where you type or paste your article and to the right of the "submit blog" button. It says "display this article in the forums as well" and is checked by default. If you don't want your article to appear in the forums, just uncheck the box.

Anyone ever heard of Errol Flynn? You're kidding, right? Who hasn't heard of Errol Flynn? (Now that I have said that, probably the next 20 comments will be "Oh, I never heard of him. Who is he?") I borrowed the Captain Blood soundtrack from the library a couple of months ago. (Well it was a
The Roman republic fell apart when their elections deteriorated... to endless litigation ... That's about where we're at. Don't like the results? Sue! Don't gather enough signatures? Sue and have the requirements declared unconstitutional! Nobody votes for your cause? Sue and find some judge who w

They're the "shock blog" articles with the inflammatory titles (Two such "articles" that I know of have topped 230 responses, last I checked!). Yes, those are frustrating. I'd like to have an article with 200+ comments, but that would seem to require a lot of arguing, and I'm not going to go there. The

Cue the music please. "You're so vain, I bet you think this blog is about you. Donchew, donchew, donchew...." I had some blogging milestones in July: Two articles on the front page at the same time. (While others have
was this Coolidge character any good as a president? Well, he did come up with my favorite quote of all time. Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persis
Thank you HistoryIsHere. to the point where many say it is becoming overused and lacking any coherent definition, especially since many so-called neoconservatives vehemently disagree with one another on major issues. Well, that part of the definition I can agree with! Also from that a
I posed this question in one of my articles . Here's my take on it, from that article: "My thinking is that the Aliens are functionally just big insects, ant-like in their ways. There's not a lot of intelligence there. By contrast, the Predators are highly intelligent humanoid creatures who dedicate their lives to hunting. Now really, who's going to win, the ant trail or you
Injured and fired. Yep, that's about the way the mo-fo's work....
It called me a realist. there is a tendency for JU to be a lot more centrist-oriented. What happened to all the people claiming we were the propaganda arm of the far right? I am wondering about this "neo-con" label
What is a blog? It is not a professional piece, nor is it affiliated with any of the major news networks. For a long time now, even before Sally's "Is blogging the new journalism" piece, I have meant to write an article called "This Isn't Journalism." Frankly, even I don't feel responsible to uphold
I know what you mean. It was over 120 in the shade on the patio yesterday. What can you do with dodos like us who look at the Mohave Desert and say, "Wow, that looks like a great place to live!" at least I can laugh at the rest of you when you'r
Linda Ronstadt's agent, Shelly Schultz, has announced that Ms. Ronstadt will be canceling all her concerts for September but insists this has nothing to do with the controversy over her nightly dedication of the song Desperado to filmmaker
That reminds me of the time I was staying in this hotel and the guy above me set his alarm clock for two hours earlier than he had to leave then proceeded to press snooze every 10 minutes -- beginning at 4 A.M. That was a fun week. I just don't get people like that.
Gideon, as long as my grandmother and your wife don't read this we'll both live a little while longer.
Wouldn't it be great if someone searched for Fred Harteis on Google, and all they saw was, "Fred Harteis farts Channel No. 5 and pees pure champagne!"? Time for a Google Bomb! Fred Harteis: Not Sicilian (sorry, Gene...had to reference <a href="http://random
