For anyone wanting to learn how create DX widgets/objects/gadgets i believe this link is a good place to start. [link="https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/documentation/DX-sbs-1.asp"]Link[/link] There are a LOT of tutorials out there, as well as documentation on DX. THE BEST way to find any tutorial, code, or examples is to do the following: goto GOOGLE and type in something like: DesktopX Tutorials (returns - 33 THOUSAND results) D
As for the version info etc - put some constants at the top of your script that match what you will enter in the fields when you export it.
Been there one that.. i just want to try and only have it in 1 place, and since im entering it when i export, why do i have to put it in my code too? Lazy? no, i just want them to match.
The Shell.Application object exposes some features of the Windows Shell to script. A good example is you can move/delete files and

This is pretty cool.. i wish i spotted this one earlier. Say you want the widget/gadget to load a file from the directory its running from. Well.. if your in BUILDER mode, the widgets executable folder is where DX Builder is running from, not where the widget's exe will end up. SO this could help when testing the program in builder mode, ie: DesktopX.HostType Returns the host that is currently running the object. Return values are: 1 –

I have a few things that i am having some issues with, and im not sure if these are things that SD would have to add to DX or there is a way to do this in scripting. Standard Preferences (Z-ORDER): Is there a way to set/change Z-Order of the entire widget from a script? I am not a fan of the "standard properties" box, I like it better to have my own setup. I would like to be able to set the Z-Order to "Always on top" then back to "Normal Level" fro

You will find that building things on transparent backgrounds is always a good idea, it allows you to keep things locked together, and also helps with things moving around. I have been doing this on just about everything that has multiple parts that need to stay together. Even things like the Holiday Countdown Pro that has multiple (swappable) images that hang over the edges of what LOOKS LIKE the background object are actually sitting on another MASTER BG item that is transparent, so that

Hey all, I'm sure most of you think i have given up on DX. Its been months since I posted anything on DX scripting, or creation. Just been working my butt of out-of-town for most of the past 4 months. Actually I'm sitting in a hotel room right now. Anyway, I was looking at something the other day and wondered how many little SIMPLE tricks are hidden in DX. I was talking to miksama the other day and he pointed sent me s

I have the same "UNDER" issue, as well as having some problems with the main program screen not redrawing correctly. Is there not a way to pull up the config window without having to go thru my start menu? Is there a tray icon? or a hot key? maybe i missed it.

Sidebar gadgets are part of VISTA not DX, DX can be used to create these gadgets, but i think once they are made into Sidebar Gadgets DX cant open them anymore, you need Vista's Sidebar to run them. If you look on the Sidebar Gadgets Library page it has at the very top: Sidebar Gadgets Gadgets for the Windows Vista sidebar. Hope this helps.
