You were at Oxford? Which college? That's my hometown! I LOVE Oxford! I did an exchange thing at Keble for a semester (was supposed to be for a year but my bro got diagnosed with cancer so I went home) and it was the best experience of my life in academic, social, and spiritual terms. Absolutely the b

Well, seeing it live would mean no Madden on commentary. An excellent point. Don't know why I didn't think of it first except, of course, that I may well be stupid. I watched it when I was in school at Oxford. My flatmates and I would quote it word-for-word...(we did study, i think). -

I think sometimes new people come in and start a clone article unintentionally because they don't know that the issues has already been debated to the point of insanity, and that's forgivable (in fact, if I've done that, please forgive me). I think we've all done that. There are a lot of articles and it

during football season, I'd follow John Madden's horse trailer and go to every Monday Night Football game during the season Could I tag along? I love MNF. Not a big Madden fan but I love the game enough to put up

I was going to write a really relevant and Insightful comment here... But then I decided I could just go write my own article about the same exact thing without adding anything new... *begins soapbox* Ya know, it's people like YOU... *sputters indignantly* When I was your age, boy .... *sputte

Have you ever taken the time to write a pretty well-thought-out article, only to have someone steal it and rewrite it on their blog? It's a little irritating. Not bad, but kinda like a fly in the room that won't leave irritating. In the literary world it's called "plagiarism" but I wouldn't describe it as such in the bloggin

A$$#0!E Quite possibly the most creative spelling of the word I've seen to date. I mused on that for a second and came up with this one myself, though if I wasn't thinking about it I'm not sure I'd be aware that it spelled anything....@$$#0!3 On behalf of mankind, I'm sorry that people are stup

I swore I wouldn't go back to mine until I'm either a famous author, actress, or humanitarian, or the 25th reunion, whichever comes first. I also swore I wouldn't give them money until then, either, but that's for another blog. -A.

Yay for you! I want to be sarcastically funny about all the, ahem, joys that boys bring, but I don't think I know you well enough yet....sometimes my sarcasm doesn't go over well. Congrats on the baby, and good luck to your wife as she's dealing with being pregnant. -A.

I can't decide whom I hate worse. So, if anything, they're pushing me toward the Libertarians. Bless that Badnarik fella! Oh, and I will be watching the debates, with a great deal of scorn and ridicule for all of 'em. -A.

It shows how far down the sewer hole people can get when the grizzly murder by non-Americans is portrayed with less horror then a few Iraqis being made to spend the night getting pictures taken in a human pyramid. I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. The people who committed those crimes are undeniabl

In my humble opinion, dentistry is far too expensive for not having the malpractice nightmares that physicians have. Here's my nightmare, and it's very similar to yours (though it happened a few years ago): 8 a.m. Enter dentist office. 8:30 a.m. see hygienist, who pokes my gums until they're bleeding and sore and tells me I need to floss (who doesn't? or rather, who does floss?) 9 a.m. X-rays 9:04 - 9:59 a.m.: read crappy

My closest times, even now while I'm agnostic (I try to believe, but it's really hard), are when I talk about God with other Christians. It helped that I went to and taught at a Christian college and had the most wonderful professors in the world, because we'd talk about it almost every day. I hate the word, but "fellowship" is the right one. To find people, you don't necessarily have to be in a Bible study group--if you just get some people t

Dharma--I tried the "laundry accident" trick over the weekend while we were visiting my sister and her new baby. The bleach thing didn't work well but I did manage to "accidentally" forget the last load of laundry, so I'm saved from the bright yellow shirt for at least a month, or whenever we go back again. Next up: the polyester on the linen/cotton setting. I also took the liberty of hiding two of the more atrocious shirts by tossing them o

Then maybe your the patron saint of stuffed animals!! I don't know how I missed this before. PB, you're funny. But I'd rather be the Patron Saint of the Despirited Temp Worker, if that's okay. <img src="../images/smiles/jokegrim.gif" bor

Drat. I was so hoping for that insightful...it might finally be the one that moves me up past Marvin Cooley in the ratings (er, not that I care about points...at all...I mean, only losers care what they're rated, right?....yeah....). I usually find I sleep better if I inhabit the middle of the bed....H doesn't think that's so good, though. -A.

Er, back to the topic (sorry, tangents are fun) ...I'm glad to read that. I watch the Daily Show and I feel vindicated to not be lumped into a group of "stoned slackers" watching a "dopey show." (We don't get cable, though, so I don't see it often enough--maybe I'd be more stoned then.) I heard more of that interview and Stewart didn't defend his viewers very well--O'Reilly said

Awhile back I was in line at Starbucks (I know it's the devil and I don't go there often) and asked for my drink and a venti (x-large) ice water to go, as we were setting out for another interview and would be on the road for many hours. The oh-so-helpful girl behind the counter said, "I'm sorry, but we can't give you a venti ice water to go. We can give yo

Okay, for all you Office Space fans, you remember when Lawrence and Peter are talking about what they'd do with a million bucks, Lawrence says, "Two chicks at the same time." Peter says, "Nothing. I'd sit on my ass all day, and do nothing." Sometimes I aspire to Peter's sentiments, but after meeting some of the biggest idiot
