Unfortunately the republican party doesn't really care about repealing Roe V Wade. They only care to get the votes from the people who will vote for them based on that specific issue. Same as with gay marriage. They don't care about the religious, cultural, or personal views on the issue . They side the issue so the busineeses that they truly represent will not have to pay more for such things as health care, etc. And so that it doesn't cost more for specific government entitlement program ben

The objective of the war was to create a democracy that would sign agreements for oil leases to American and British Oil Companies. If you don't believe that then you better do your homework. First I will pose a few questions then give u a link to a document abt the oil industry and a timeline of various wars in Iraq. Maybe then you will understand the true meaning of US Interests in the Middle East as has been set out and acted upon in the form of US National Security and Foreign Policy in that

McCain did sign a prenup with the heiress so i don't know that its about the family fortune. Probably had more do do with lust, maybe political connections, or maybe just a lust for suds. I guess id have to reexamine the timeline to form a realistic opinion....lol

Indeed Wikipedia is not a definitive source but for me at least a good starting point. It has direct links and more importantly footnotes that link to other sources to backup some of the information it lays out. Its difficult to find good political sources but at east Wikipedia is not a political blog that only links to other political blogs. It's footnotes link to major news outlets including the major media networks PBS VOA BBC,etc. and various govt websites.

My initial statement was in regards to the economy as a whole...That is after all what the post is about. My statement was that "the majority of economic growth is only being enjoyed by the wealthiest". The article and census data pointed out that the average wage went down during the last economic expansion for the first time since WWII. The fact that average wages actually went down during an economic expansion means that the the working class as a whole did not get anything out of t

Obama's past is no more no less questionable than any other candidate who runs for public office. I can scrutinize both Obama and McCain and find good and bad things about both. I can take the same questions the original poster posed and apply them to McCain and many might be surprised at some of the answers you come up with.

To excuse Obama's popularity to the public being politically ignorant is not a very well thought out answer. It amazes me that he beat Clinton in the primary but it does not in any way lead me to believe that the the dems who voted for him are politically ignorant. I would think it has more to do with his campaign strategists being politically brilliant. Probably not brilliant but in any case to beat the Clintons at their own game is quite an accomplishment. To infer that he has so far not campa

If you actually do some research you will find plenty of information about Raila Odinga and when u further research the issue involving a pact made with the muslim leaders in Kenya you will find that this statement within a BBC article: Muslim leaders decided to make the pact public after a document circulated on the internet claimed that Mr Odinga's ODM had pledged to introduce Sharia in parts of the country where Muslims are in the majority. Unfortunately much of the information you have posted is factually incorrect.I too don't know as much about Obama as i would like to but i am constantly looking for more information . Unlike you however i try to make certain that the information i gather is from more than a single source and even further more than a single "reliable" source. So why don't you make yourself productive and find the answers to some of the questions you posted and when u find them on the internet, take a loo

This article is probably a good starting point that sums up a lot of what is going on and some of the reasons why. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/09/business/09leonhardt.html?_r=1&oref=slogin It is very difficult to show numbers reflecting the recent quarter since census bureau data is not updated that swiftly but it should be obvious that the trend shown in the census bureau graph in the article has not changed in the last year. There are also various lin

The problem is hidden within the fact that the majority of economic growth is only being enjoyed by the wealthiest. So even though GDP didn't show a recession last quarter the reality is that there are a lot of folks in the middle and lower economic classes are getting hammered. Globalization is tough and one should expect that the American standard of living will fall as it happens, but there is a limit to how much and how quickly it should fall.

The HD specific channels do seem to have more content on these issues which is why i suggested it. Though I guess it wont matter much next year when we are switched over to HD as the standard. There were a couple of programs i saw recently that were interesting because they were not specifically about global warming and climate change but did address these issues. One was about the history of the oil and the oil industry and the other was about the history of the earth. There was a lot

I would suggest that you subscribe to the HD tier of your cable provier and start watching programs on the Discovery, NatGeo, History etc. channels and stop watching and listening to the political spinsters. You truly need to educate yourself about such subjects as Peak Oil Production, Global Warming, Biochemistry, Petrochemistry, Aramco, etc. Those subjects are too vast to be explained in a blog. I do believe that Nuclear power is part of the equation to potentially stave off some of

Guess what? Its not our decision. There is now an Iraqi Government which has control over their own sovereign territory and if you have been watching the negotiations on CSPAN between the US and Iraqi governments you would know that. Although they have not made a decision yet it looks like the majority of the parties involved in the Iraqi Parliament think the US troops still being there is in fact causing more problems and may in fact decide to have us start withdrawing troops sooner than you m

Obama hasn't spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America either but you wouldnt know that if simply wish to believe the spin without actually doing some research. Since the rep party has damaged itself so badly I suspect the Dems will win enough seats in congress to override vetos if McCain gets elected so the decision lies in who you want to be nominating court judges,be Commander-In Chief, and who you want to control the withdrwal from Iraq...Yes withdrawal because if you had

Does the unemployment rate include graduates looking for first time employment? No....U can't collect unemployment benefits if u haven't been been laid off from prior employment and that figure is calculated from states reporting the number of people collecting unemployment benefits...So it looks like the Pres tried to twist the truth a bit and you fell for it. The economy is a mess for many and it is not because individuals refuse to adapt to globalization. It is because the government

IT works both ways. Drs. and research scientists are very analytical people yet they often are found arguing for liberal causes. And one might say that the religious right, who act solely on the word of "God" are acting on the analysis of someone else or being driven by something very much akin to propaganda. As an "agnostic" I would think that you may have read some books on the origin of the worlds religions. If someone from the right looked at the "
