I hope it'll play on my machine. You're the one who got me fixed on those games, anyway. I don't think I've ever played a more gratifying shooter for the PC Well, if there is one thing I can say for sure, it is Epic knows how to build an engine. The Unreal engine is just about the most scalable I have ever seen. Better even

Years ago, Epic Games released the demo for Unreal Tournament 2003. I had never played the original Unreal Tournament (UT), as I just wasn't really a fan of shooters. But the demo for UT2003 hooked me. It was my first year of medical school, and we used to play LAN matches during our lunch break. It was awesome. I immediately went out and found a copy of the original UT and proceeded to play it like crazy. I was hooked. Fast forward a year or tw

There are a lot of reasons to hate Sony. When it comes to the gaming front I have already written a time or two about how they are hosing the consumer. But this is just crap. There is no excuse for them to charge for drivers. I found something similar with my wife's old Clie. They were less than helpful and wanted to charge me $40 for a replacement for the driver disc. Screw that. A half hour of Google later, I found exaclty what I needed and

I have to disagree with the Tool part. I really liked 10,000 days. As I mentioned, I loved the first 4 songs, #5 was okay, then it just went downhill. I know there is another in there that is an actual song, but by the time I get there, I have lost all interest and just find it incredibly boring.

It is insane the way some people use their phones. Put the phone down and just drive. Of course, I am arrogant enough that I have done it a time or two myself, but I try to keep it only to times when I really need to. And even that is an exaggeration. I realize that. Man, I am glad you are safe. Nice job telling that loser off.

PS the problem with listing "favorite tracks" is that, with many of these albums, there is no favorite track. Plus, it would have turned an already long article into a mammoth that would be even more difficult to make through. Locamama: Thanks so much for reading. I agree that Amy Lee can oversing at times. There is just s

And here I was thinking this was going to be an article about the current drama going on around here . . . That was the plan! I thought that might attract more readers! Yay us, attention hoes forever!

This is a shameless plug. My brother, San Chonino, and I put together an article on some of the musical highlights of 2006. Honestly, we worked pretty hard on it, and would hate to see it sink into complete oblivion. Hence, an article with a slightly salacious title in hopes to point people in the right direction if they are interested. Thanks.

San Chonino and I were discussing which albums we would place in our top ten albums of the year article. However, we both were having a difficult time really selecting a stand out track, unlike last year . That isn't to say that there weren't some great albums in 2006. There really were. But nothing that grabbed us. Plus, when there are so m

Don't get me wrong, I love my iPod. And when I have the money, I really, really want to have a Mac (in addition to any Widows based PC I will have). But the whole "culture" of Apple products just makes me sick. If they didn't make such darn sexy hardware, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with them. As it is, I am adamant that I am not an Apple fan, I just like some of their products.

Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Man, I hear ya. I hate it when I cut myself shaving. One wrong move and SLICE, you are bleeding. I suppose that is the nice part about electric razors. But to be honest, my face hurts worse after shaving with an electric razor than with a dull fusion. (I'm cheap, so I use each Fusion cartridge for at least 4-6 weeks). I think you should just bleed on her. That would be appropriate punishment.

The one that always used to have me scratching my head was when, back in NC, I would see girls wearing thick coats, scarves, hats, and furry boots all with skirts that were so short they barely covered their butt-cheeks. I don't get it. I'll never get it.

I suppose it is because I have a relatively small amount of free time, but man, I hate it when that happens. I end up losing hours I still wish I had. Pizza and jelly beans, the dinner of champions.

After the second or third season, the auditions became my favorite part of the show. I found the characters highly entertaining. After not watching at all the past season, I decided to tune in last night for a bit. Nothing really jumped out at me. I didn't watch the whole show (I got way too bored), but was just sort of "Meh" with most. And the really, really bad ones are no longer entertaining. Likewise, the judges' shtick is wearing thin. S

I'm psyched to hear things are going well with the band. You guys deserve all the success you can get. By the way, is there an actual blog group for the JU writing challenge yet? I feel a bit out of the loop. I think there have been a few inspiration pieces I missed. Perhaps if my lazy brother would get his act together and give us a topic. . .

Actually it was probably an excellent question. Sometimes it can be difficult to simply admit "I don't know". I would imagine the "I don't know" would happen a lot in the medical profession. Perhaps humility is the point

Reminds me of when I wake the kids up on Saturday morning all frantic and tell them they are late for school. Now that's just mean! Just think though . . . someday, if you want to, you can do the SAME THING.

I have felt very much the same Tex. I just haven't had the time to write, read or reply as I would have liked. And when I did have the time, the desire was just not there. As it is, I think it is best to stay somewhat distanced from the melodrama, but I won't lie and say my curiousity isn't piqued every time I read something salacious here.

I have previously pondered the subject of pimping in medical education. As much as I may not like it, I recognize that it is a time honored tradition in medical education. As such, I expect it, and even respect it just a bit (that is the masochist in me speaking). However, lately I have experienced an aspect of pimping I could do without. Let me set the stage. I present a patient. On trauma,

On the other side of the coin, I think there is an astonishing selection to choose from. Minimal, over-the-top, subdued colors, vibrant, organic, techno, glassy, etc. all exist and have been shared with us out of the goodwill and generosity of their creators. We are each entitled to our own opinion, but I'll just use this time to state that I respectfully disagree with you, and thanks to all who share their work.
