He agreed to getting some counseling while I'm working today, and after work we are going to have a counseling session together. So, we're sort of in the lines of getting help for all this. Sounds like both of you want to work on it....which is a BIG step....good job and good luck to you! <img src="..

Dharma~ I love you dear and I know a lot of others do to! You can add me to that list, Karen. I'm still not sure exactly why, but you're one of those rare folks with whom I felt an instant connection, and I look forward to getting to know you even better as time goes by.

Children draw comfort from knowing their parents admire and respect one another. They feel secure when they see Mom and Dad grounded in their love. When you point out the good qualities of your spouse and expound on the reasons for your love, you give your children an increased sense of security. At the same time, you reinforce the standards you want your children

Emma....do you think that some marital counseling would help the two of you? And maybe some individual counseling for Shawn? Sounds like he has some issues to work out regarding his parents....he's obviously afraid of you two turning out like them, and that's got the danger of becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy if he spends too much time worrying about it and thinking about it. You're all in my prayers!!

Very descriptive writing....I can just see her doing those things! Makes me miss those sweet little baby days!! Cherish them, because all too soon she'll be a mouthy teenaged girl and you'll wish you could have these times BACK......

I'm 99.9% sure that we're going to be all right. I love him, and I hope he realizes that. Thanks for all your thoughts and help. Hey, that's a high percentage....so that's good....hang in there, and make SURE he knows you love him.....don't just hope he knows, or presume he knows....TELL him, and tell

We are going to Scott AFB, Illinois...our first choice because of it's proximity to Dave's family and his hometown. I'm sitting here crying because I'm so relieved/happy/excited....my children will get to see their grandparents, we will get to visit on holidays...at last, we will be close to family. <

As the parent of three students, and as a former teacher, I couldn't agree more!! Everything these days is about teaching the proficiency test, so the scores are high, so the school gets a good rating...blah, blah, blah.....whatever happened to making sure children LEARN something they can carry with them forever? And just recently I learned there's this crazy law, at least in our state, that a child can only be held back once in their entire time in

An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come. Do you remember how it felt when you were a child and you drew a picture or made something and presented it to someone? Oftentimes as adults, we still have that heart-pounding experience when we share an idea with someone. Our minds warn us, They may not like it! But somethin

Emma...you didn't drive him to drink.....he drank because he chose to....and his behavior now is also his choice, and has nothing to do with anything you did or didn't do, said or didn't say. Don't let yourself fall into that trap. He's out drinking again. I called his cell phone, and he told me "I just need to take a

I guess what I'm trying to say is when we find these people, that we can connect with, that we do consider to be special, that we consider to be true friends. They are special. Very special. Because no matter how many good, nice people there are in the world, very few of them will you be able to call friends. So those you do fin

My ex-husband was one of those jealous, a$$hole-types and he ended up being abusive. He lured me into his web by being sensitive and caring (of course, I was only 18, so I couldn't see the truth). I think I have learned my lesson, maybe the hard way? Been there done that....and here's to never going ba

Make people understand that the baby (and you) need sleep and rest. This is no time for stress. She is too young, and you need to build your strength back up.70 is not very old. There is no reason that he can't take care of his own messes. Remember, it's your home too. Make sure that you voice your opinion about stuff or peo

It can be no dishonor to learn from others when they speak good sense. There may come a day in your marriage when you and your mate reach an impasse. You feel like giving up. Your problems appear too big to solve, and you can't agree on anything. Before you throw in the towel, explore every available option for help. Your marriage is the most pr

According to Maxim, 80% of the American women (Maxim readers at least) prefer the macho, jealous type of boyfriend… I am no psychology major, however, it has come to my attention that there are many women here on JU, and perhaps they can provide some insight… They can be exciting to date, if you think

Shawn said he needed to ask me a question later. And usually when he tells me that he needs to ask me a question before he askes it, it means he needs to think about how to put so not to upset me. Well it's too late honey, I'm already upset! Do you think he's going to bring up the idea of his dad livi

SO still hasn't actually said anything to the effect of "I want you to leave/I want us to split/I want us to live separate/etc.". Our lease is up the end of August. In the country of religious freedom, marriage is pretty much an outdated term. Are civil ceremony marriages as bad as gay marriage? Why don't we just end "marriage" and turn it into "legal union". No matter who does it, everyone lives by the same laws. Exactly....as I said, too many people are confus

Be on the lookout wherever you go for fun trinkets and small gifts for your spouse. The presents need not be expensive purchases or time-consuming projects.
