OMG! I'd hate to get blatter worms. Sounds painful.

TIHS IS TEH FUNNAY!! A JEFF K WANNABE!!
Right over my head...
I guess I don't understand... Maybe someone can tell me the secret to updating Object Desktop, Microsoft Security Updates etc. and not having to reboot. I'd love to leave my computer on all the time. Please explain how to DL security updates without a rebot. There is no secret because it's not possible. EVERY Microsoft security patch that I can
Is it better to leave it on all the time, leave it on all the time and reboot once a day, run the PC during the day and keep it turned off over night,or only have your computer on when you are using it? The best way to use it is however you wish. IMO it’s BS about damaging your system by turning it on. Over the last 25 years, I’ve seen just as
Win2k/XP has built-in security to do what you wish. Right-click on your files or folders then select properties...then the security tab to setup file permissions. If it's encryption you're after go to the general tab and select the advanced button. Keep in mind that any account on the system that has admin rights can override whatever security you set up. On the other hand, if you want something like having to put a password in to access a folder even when you're logged-in, then you
Click on this link of a domain or site that does not exist: http://www.sd93kisudif.net Instead of a page or site not found message or error, you get a verisign sitefinder page. They are redirecting all non-existant .net and .com domains to their own servers. There are many security and ethical issues at work here. One of the first things that into my head is all the mail servers that are set up to not allow delivery from non-exsistant domains will now allow messages they s
I'm with sig. We've blocked the IP's outbound from our PIX. I've had do deal with verisign several times over the years and my experience has not been a pleasant one...nor has anyone I know that's had to deal with them. Their entire business model is basically based on the fact that they're crooks that pray on un-educated and un-informed users. Anyone that tells ICANN to shove it like they have... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/notsure.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid
This one's a good one too (for lack of a better term). It really does look official...other than the fact it had an executable attachment. I got one and sure enough, once I looked at the headers, it wasn't from MS. I can almost see how someone that's not used to seeing MS security bulletins could be fooled. For what it's worth, microsoft only sends out security notices in plain text.
There is really no excuse for ill-informed comments like yours. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one… Rationalize it away however you wish. I’ll put my 15 years of “ill-informed” systems, network, and security administration employment experience and the 10 years of non-pro experience prior to that up against your misplac
Windows 2K server: 9.5 months 24/7... Outside of the virus/worm authors themselves...this is why there is such a problem...so-called admins/owners not doing their job (patching). There is just no excuse for this.
http://plexi.dbltree.com Warning!!! I was learning flash at the time.
I thought Microsoft recomends 128 MB absolute minimum? Sure it will install...but it'll run like cr@p. I guess I took it for granted that most people know that the "recommended requirements" are actually the real-world minimum in order to use the product remotely like it was intended for.
Leo LaPorte from "The Screensavers" on TechTV said anything over 256MB of RAM is overkill and even for the power gamer or power user. He said it's a waste of money. Leo LaPortly is a boob. If you're running XP with only 256MB RAM, you're out of memory and swapping before you've even fininshed booting all the way up. RAM is so cheap, it just doe
I'm with Snowman...lighten up!
I saw this link to a PS tutorial on HardOCP's front page. I don't know about you, but I was impressed. From scratch image: http://www.wade.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/FinalPic.png Tutorial: http://www.wade.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tutorial1.htm [Message Edited]

Leo is a b00b. Patrick is a little better (but not by much). I usually have to change the channel when the Screen Savers is on, because all I end up doing is yelling at the TV.
AMD, they're heaps cheaper than Intel chips and the performance difference is invisible unless you're a heavy gamer. I'm a heavy gamer and I currently use AMD. 3D (a la: Q3, Unreal II, UT2003, Generals, etc.) Game performance largely depends more on your video card t
Try it with the in-game browser. If it works, then there is a problem with the all seeing eye. Also, I read recently that id was having problems with their master key verification server...FWIW Happy fragging
I'm with Jafo! ...but I also like brains. You're just not a true computer geek until you've tried modding! j/k Here's an example - http://plexi.dbltree.com (Warning: Flash intro)
Paxx: No argument there whatsoever. Mhz/Ghz is quite different between all these processors. Even when IPC (instructions per clock) is taken into account it's not 1 to 1. It doesn't shock me that your MAC was so much faster than your P3...I would expect that in the case you mentioned. Photoshop has historically done much better on a MAC. My comment about the 2x2Ghz != 4Ghz was aimed at same processor comparisons. I.E. G5 vs. G5, P4 vs. P4 etc.
I aint promotin Sh**. I use a PC and XP. Your statements say otherwise. Here's a few: Show me a more powerful PC... You won't find one. The G5 uses 64 bit processors. PC do not (yet.) And it even outperformes the
hey tech here a fact you can't argue with...MACS RAELY BREAK DOWN if at all like PC do....... Both linux and OS X are more stable then windows. Care to state the source of your "facts"? This is wh
Everyone shuddap and let the admins sort it out. Not another witch hunt... Sorry to have to tell you this...blah blah blah... Yeah, right...I bet you're sorry. Instead of being an attention *****, take it up with the admins if you feel you need to be
