The learning curve is pretty steep IMO. You should start small by changing an existing skin. Tutorials and specs on Chrome and CSS will help. There are also skining tutorials for Pheonix/Firebird/Fox.

Ok, so I was curious. I did some playing around. In order to run a program before logon (at the welcome screen) it must be a service. I got the xp-supplied onscreen keyboard to work for logging-in by turning it into a service. I do some programming and I've needed to make a service before. Sometimes I've actually created a service with a VB activeX control (NTService.ocx) and sometimes I've used a handy utility that turns virtually any exe, bat, vbs, etc. into a windows service. Many moons ago, you pointed me to SyncBack. It saved my bottom this weekend big time when I lost a RAID-0 controller on my main desktop system at home. Luckily, I had just revamped my entire network at home and my Active Directory server had SyncBack backing up all the clients and the other server every day. Thanks again Jafo! I've had this happen twice with two different systems over the years. In both cases, I believe it was a grounding problem. In both cases, The problem fixed itself when I took everything out (including the mobo) and booted it up on the bench (not in the case). I put everything back together and it still worked. BTW, in both of these intances, the systems were AT. Good luck.

I also remote desktop into a WB-skinned system all the time. No problems here. I can also vouch for TightVNC.
Sput: Do you run sendmail? If so, I'd be happy to share my config with you. Between DBL, my own blacklists (access.db), Subject line filters, and an antivirus scanner...I see maybe one spam every week and a half to two weeks on my servers. Your milage may vary. It all depends on what kind of flexibility your users need. For instance, one of my sendmail servers' blacklists blocks ALL traffic from both China and Brazil. SpamAssasin for sendmail (using milter) is another great tool

You can also use a proxy like NetProxy, WinProxy, or even Squid (Linux) and log everything. I believe Netproxy has filters and SquidGuard for Squid works great (I use this). Both of my kids are well aware that everything that they do on the computers in their rooms is monitored and logged. That in of itself, it a great deterrent.
