When you are brought up to be a skeptic, it is hard to believe. I wasn't brought up that way, but I have problems with churches. The reason is that I can see all sides of the question. I can see the validity in many points of view. So choosing just one is hard. But they can't all be true. I think the problem is that God is vaster, more complicated, more profound than anyone can discuss. He is far greater than our imaginations. So whenever we talk about God, part of what we are saying is

Actually trying to nail the suppliers doesn't work. The problem is that there is a market for the drugs. Decrease the market, decrease the suppliers. Drugs don't just harm the individual drug user but all of the countries which supply the drug and are on the trail from manufacturer to market.

I'm sorry Muggaz, but I don't understand why you think it is wrong to ask God for faith and why one should have it anyway. Faith is believing in things that are not seen. Most of us live by what we can see. If God is greater than me, why can't I ask Him for what I need?

You aren't as far off from the traditional view of God as you may think. The Bible says, "God is love." It also says that if you say you love God and hate your brother then you are lying and do not love God. " If anyone boasts, "I love God," and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won't love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can't see? 21 The command we have from Christ is blunt: Lo

I think that some people are naturals at this, my husband is one of them. I'm just the opposite. I could probably learn, but I do better just avoiding such situations altogether. If you can find someone who was awful and learned to do it right, then you could teach it.

The irony of it is that farmers are often the beneficiaries of all sorts of government aid. I have also found that many of the people living in the inner city came directly from rural areas. The people who seem the most bent on conservative ideas are those who live in the South and the suburbs. Those who live in Minnesota and Wisconsin are more liberal where as the rest of the midwest are mixed. There are many factors that influence peoples core beliefs.

I was in the process of writing you a reply when I was interrupted. A friend told me a story that I really liked. Someone we know died of a drug overdose. He was only eighteen. At the funeral someone said, "I know that God has a plan." He didn't finish the sentence. Someone who attended the funeral and was very upset about his death, asked my friend, "What was the end of the sentence?" My friend said. "I know that God's plan wasn't for him to

I've heard but don't have any evidence to back it up, that if the situation is realively satisfactory then many people won't vote because they aren't concerned about the outcome. No matter who gets elected, things will be all right. However when the outcome is very important, then most people vote. Unstable democracies have higher percentages of voters.

If the people detained at Guantanamo Bay are terrorists, then evidence should be brought against them and they should be tried in court. By hiding them, the United States government is ruining our reputation. How can we expect other countries to respect us when we don't practice what we preach. During the Civil War, Lincoln did similar things and worse, his rational was that he was preserving the union but his actions won little favor with opponents to the war and with Southerner wh

Identical or not twins share so much that they are closer to each other than their parents. I'm sorry about your sister's health problems, it is very scary for a twin to think of losing her sister. I have twins, they are identical but have spent most of their life trying to look different. Even so, they are very close. I hope your twin gets well soon.

When I was in seminary, the director of our branch campus said of one of the professors that he taught as if all his professors were in the back of the room grading him. Hence he went above the heads of the students. Relate to your students as people, say things to get there attention. My pastor once started a sermon with a dirty joke. It may not be as shocking for a professor, but surprise them. Eight in the morning is a dreadful time to teach a

My daughters' left high school and went to community college. Although some of the topic were more adult than they liked, overall they had a good experience, there was none of the harrassment from other students, if they couldn't finish a class because of illness, they could drop it and then could take classes at their level. Unfortunately, community college teachers get paid less than public school teachers, so it is a sacrifice to choose to teach at that level. Public schools woul

Why are schools afraid of disciplining students? I've always wondered this. The reason the students are so disrespectful is that the get away with it. My daughters had a Spanish class that was so disruptive they learned hardly anything. The students sweared in Spanish, etc. She was a first year teacher. All of the students were the type that got good grades.
