The Luck attribute increases your chances of finding a Ranger-class ship. On lower difficulty, you may even get a Ranger very early in the game (before other civilizations get anywhere near even Battleships). I believe it also increases your chances of finding other low-class ships (ie. corvettes). I am not aware of any further effects of Luck (if any). [Message Edited]

Once you have the mod files in the appropriate folders, you must select the 'Enable Mods' option from within the game. This will require that you restart the game before mods are fully loaded, however. Instead, you can edit the Prefs.ini file and set the 'EnableMods' key in the 'GameOptions' section to '1' (without the quotes: EnableMods=1), and then start the game (which, in this case, will fully load the mods without having to restart).
I hope that CariElf can get this fixed I really do like to see the end of turn summaries.
CariElf
I think that I have the save game and messed up score information fixed.
CariElf
The save game and scoring bugs should be fixed in the current AP beta. You may be able to get the bonuses you want through Ability picks when starting a game but you will have to edit the English.str file. Find the 'AbilityOptions' table and set the values for the ability you want, and then set the ability option cost to zero. I am not sure if this will work, I think I read it in the strategy forums, but you can check it out.
Yes, navigation is broken for some month already.
I did not realize that it was a problem with the links. I just assumed that there were actually only three pages of mods and the 15 pages originally shown were an error. :notsure: Hopefully that gets fixed soon but in the meantime you should be able to use these links to access some of the pages: 1(http://www.galciv.com/library.asp?wp=1&Sort=UpdateDate&searchtext=&LibID=0&Order=Descending) 2(http://w
What program did you send the file to? Whether you can salvage the file or not depends on if and how the program modified the file. Also, list the file size and extension as it is now if possible. You can also download the clean data files for v1.2 and replace the English.str file(http://www.joeuser.com/sdfiles/data%201.2.zip). [Message Edited]
in what fies should i unzip ships? anomalies? and events?
These are data files; they should be put in the Mods\Data directory of your GalCiv installation directory. UPISSUES and INVTACTIC files should be put in their respective folders within the Mods\Data directory (Mods\Data\UP_Issues and Mods\Data\InvasionTactics). Also, the Mods folder contains other folders (Movies, Music, Sfx, etc.) that are used to hold files of their respective types. [Message Edite
Just to be sure: is one sector one cell in the grid view of the map?
In grid view, one small cell is called a parsec. A sector is composed of 12x12 parsecs. When grid view is turned off, parsecs are hidden and only sectors are displayed.
Your mod sounds very interesting, especially with all the new stuff in there :). Hopefully, I will be able to play it soon (busy with something else currently).
I cannot get the 1.2 patch to install. I save it to my hardrive, and my computer does not recognize it. Does anybody know how to fix this?
The download from the website is a zip file. You must have a zip decompression program like WinZip(http://www.winzip.com) or WinRAR(http://www.rarlabs.com) to open it. If you have Windows XP you can also use the built in 'Compressed Folder' functionality to open zip files. Alternatively, you can use Stardock Central(http://w
After installing WindowsBlinds, I cannot revert to my original Windows XP themes. Selecting 'Windows XP Style' in the Display Properties dialog does absolutely nothing: the 'Apply' button remains disabled and I cannot choose any of the Luna styles. Since reboot my theme has remained 'Windows Classic style' and although I can still apply WindowsBlinds skins, they are not applied in their entirety. There is always some element(s) of the skin that is not applied or is not applied as it was meant
being evil-it's more fun than being a goody-goody
You also get a lot of bonuses being evil through random events, etc. The Fundamentalists are kind of a way of balancing that out for "goody-goody" empires.
There is no sound for the movie played when your freighters are first attacked. All other movies work fine. I think this may have been after updating to 1.20 (from 1.12) or maybe it never had sound to begin with... can't remember.
There is no victory movie when a major civilization's last star system is taken over by cultural influence (ie. no 'It is the end of the Arcean Empire as an independent power.').
