The option is something like : governor ignores GNN reports.
I'd also really like to know if research points carry over,
They don't. ANd for micromanaging research slider, there is one bif cavecat: the game memorizes free research and don't recalculate it when you play with sliders. As long as you increase the research, it won't really matter. but if you decrease the research between turn, you will think that you spend enough to get the research the next turn sinc F6 will say so but it won't be the case since it will use a bigger
Stocking up on some AMMs is a good strategy.
And that fits clearly with the party since negative bonus on defense and hit points has no effect on missile :)
Is there a Gal Civ demo anywhere?
Yes, but it is a 1.03 version.
Third, it used to be that governors did their stuff without bothering you, but now you get transported to the planet for every thing they build. A bother. Is ther a way to make them act like before?
There is a option for that: something like "Governor ignores GNN report" that needs to be checked

One funny thing about alliance victory is that you can have an alliance win with all AIs when they are at war with each others
I didn't know that.
Well you just need to make all alliances in the same turn. So you will have the alliance victory before the next turn start. If you don't do that, you will be dragged into war.
One funny thing about alliance victory is that you can have an alliance win with all AIs when they are at war with each others.
What I found surprising is there is someone in position 94 that has no name. I did not think that was possible.
It is a known metaverse bug linked with the fact that Marquesa get her galciv copy from someone. So the same key was use by two differents persons. I don't really know the details.
I am wondering: with all this talk about cheese, why hasn't any RBers shown yet? After all, theirs rules are all about making things fair the AI i.e. avoid cheese :)
Late game I got hit with some incredibly strong escaped space monsters. They went through my lucky rangers like a knife through butter; I had to hit them with AMMs to kill them.
Well, don't forget that this party can't really sustain a war and have experienced ships: the negative bonus on defense and HP means pratically that the ships act like missile: if they don't destroy the target, they will by destroyed by the counter attack. Just check the HP and defense rating of
Who is spreading this rumor? I use both and have no ID conflicts!
Sure. but if you download the 2 mods from the library without having Galciv Writer, you will found that there seems to be conflict between the Id used in Nidaros pack and the one use in Omega pack: as an example Galactic Taxi Service has the Id 30 as the Portable Crystal Computer. [Message Edited]
I fear that you can't do anything for your existing savegame if you aren't well versed into modding. Galciv Writer will help you to modify all Ids but it will be tedious. And if you remove the Omega pack files and decide to play your savegame, you could have strange behavior.
Be wary that due to the use of IDs, some mods may conflict (like good/evil pack and omega pack)
Only way to stop any of this is to ensure original files are used with no mods for metaverse submissions.
How could you ensure that? You need to be sure that no standard files have been modified and that Galciv take only the standard Galciv files associated with the version.
ok, there seems to be conflict between the Id used in Nidaros pack and the one use in Omega pack: Galactic Taxi Service as the Id 30 as the Portable Crystal Computer. So unless you want to modiy the files to be sure that no Id is used twice, you can't play with both packs. [Message Edited]
Galactic Taxi Service
What mod are you using? I don't remember this improvement.
If I colonize a planet with PQ 16 and kill the worms, I'd get a PQ of 17.
What was the random PQ bonus for killing worms? It need at least 13% to get PQ 18 for a base PQ 16.
I don't think a person should be penalized because they are unable (through no fault of their own) to play for a while!
I am sorry about what happened to your family :( . But how Stardock could know what happened to you? And the rule is the same for everyone. But I have problem wit hyour score, since I am not sure about the formulas for games aged from more than 10 months. But is seems that you were hit by different things: - the global 1 month agin
I imagine people that use this would avoid war anyway so I think it would be fairer to the AI if you took a -75 Ship Attack (the one that really counts).
I don't think so. With -75 defense and -75 HP, all your fighting ships are basically missile. But since I don't build any ships (only freighter and colony ships), I guess I can take the -75% attack penalty LOL . It won't really hit me that much LOL
It would be interesting to see the result if the othe
I do expect the number of alliance wins to drop when its fixed
Not necessary if you play with high diplomacy (like research.inc with +50 diplomacky taken from the 10 starting points). Giving tech can do the same thing (giving alliance has at some point move aI from neutral to friendly). but you need to be able to tell them taht those aren't the droids they are looking for ...

Modded games aren't simply games where the "use mods" button is checked
Yes, but I can check against that.
Sure. But if a workaround against this check to submit modded games is to alter files in the standard GalCiv directory, you can safely bet that it will be used :) I think that is better to let modded games to be submitted than to let a such easy workaround [Message Edited]
Yes, but if the aliens are picking the same party (I'm not sure if there's anything to prevent them) then they'll get the same bonuses on top of their standard Maso bonuses and he won't be any better off, relatively speaking.
Not as sure as you. Let's say that AI as PQ +20 as bonus on maso. It the pol party give a PQ +100, you will have: PQ 15 -> PQ 30 for human and PQ 33 for AI. PQ 18 with only PQ +20 PQ 20 -> PQ 40 for human and PQ 44 for AI. PQ 24 with onl
Yes, and I think that we're going to have to do this if we are going to continue to allow modded games to be submitted to the metaverse.
And it mustn't be forgotten that you can mod galciv without having the files in the mod directory: you just need to have them in the galciv/data (and below) directories. Modded games aren't simply games where the "use mods" button is checked.
Currently the following tactic, based on what Renegade has done, would work: - create a political party (no need to have the same name or same id as a standard party) with only important negative bonuses. No AI will choose it but you will. - in January 2178, save the game and exit Galciv. - replace the political party you use (but withsame name and smae ID) with one with insane bonus. You will be the only with theses bonus. You may need the first election to take advantage from these
