You also need to know the code for the UIFILES that do the special shellstyle, they still must be hand coded. Also need to know which extra images to add and the values for Embedded strings. This is all done in the Shellstyle (unofficial) section of SkinStudio. Where do you find all that?

well, I thought it would be cool to have my XP and my Ubuntu 'Dapper Drake' Linux running at the same time. This machine has the juice for it. Downloaded the MSVPC and spent the ENTIRE FRICKIN' DAY trying to install linux in it. From 'Failed to create file system' to the dumb desktop .iso running at 1600x600x8 (which was totally unusable) I never got it to install correctly one time. Meowys suggestion is an excellent one. Have you checked your hdd power and data cables just to make sure they are all seated correctly? Yeah, I know kind of a duh! thing, but you never know

you can boot from the XP install and go to the recovery console instead of installing. Won't ever access the hdd. Once you get to the command line type 'fixmbr' (without the quotes). That will repair the mbr, if that is, indeed, the problem.

starkers, your link has an error, there's a period at the end which needs to be deleted, then it's ok

Doesn't this new version use tabs? This sounds like the perfect time for them. You want a different window open exactly in the same place, open it in a new tab. Otherwise, I think you used to be able to hold the shift button down when you clicked the 'x' to close the window and Windows would remember sizing and position. If you do that once, I would think that any subsequent windows would open same size, same position.

You will need either the free or paid version of this: https://www.stardock.com/products/cursorxp/ Install it and then you can download the cursors and use them. The MS cursor app in control panel can't deal with the cursors on this site.

TheGuyPC, I understand why you are frustrated. That old cliche: Sh*t happens isn't a cliche for nothing. Sometimes it just does. I've been around here for a loooong time and I promise you nobody has done these things to you on purpose. They were not intentional. I've seen folks pounce on people here before and just get nasty. It happens. Try not to take it personally. Some folks can't express themselves politely. They usually don't last long
