I must say I am quite interested in this new music selection system you spoke of... hmmm
Gauntlet03
Well we find out today if we get multi-planet systems, giant gravwells of super slowedness, and what the heck anomalies will do! I'm stuck at work till 5, so please, please someone post what they do for me at 3! Oh and pictures... it can be a race, first one to post it gets Jupiter (second place is Saturn)
Hmmm a Fair Point! Long Live The Emperor for he is wise in the ways of Schod
Tell you what Schod I at least will drop the arrogance baiting, if you can be a little more moderate, and the two of you ought to know better than to qualify arguments by claiming to know professors and such who say X and Y. 1. We have no way to verify that you do. So its pointless you could say anything and whup you claim a authority told you so and so we must accept it? I think not. 2. Odd that neither of you make the claim that YOU are qualifying your answer, your n
Give us a day, the next beta is out tomorrow which should add allot of new stuff for us to consider when answering your question. If I had to tell you right now though, it is much more RTS then 4X, though 4X isn't much more than RTS that isn't Real Time. Expand, Explore, Exploit, Exterminate = Nothing New. Now give me a space empire game where you role play more than 4X and I'm very interested... Gal Civ II comes closest to that IMO.
Yes indeed if only we could harness the power of his confidence and utmost belief in his ability to be correct we could solve the worlds energy crisis, end poverty, cure all sickness, and travel to new worlds and start killing Other intelligent life!
Time is not a real thing. You don't move forward or backward on it, it doesn't exist its a extremely useful abstraction to organize activity. In real science the 4th dimension isn't time, its motion. Clear and simple, existence is 3 planes we all know and love, and the 4th dimension or quality is moving on it. Our lovely little brains just dumb it down for us so we can function. Oh so notably since I can walk from point A. to point B. I do function in the 4th dimension. I don't control
I don't see how multiple objects in one system goes against the design concept... I don't honestly think moons would be so far away as to require a phase jump. So a gas giant with 1-3 moons would be quite reasonable in a single gravity well... 9 moons is possible in real life but would split our heads! Except for special scenarios of course
Your a Monster!
While I can appreciate your need to make money of course, I think there are very good points even if 3D is out. Optional use of Phase Lanes for example, as some of us may indeed enjoy whack the mole, even if the AI was woefully inept at it, it would be nice for MP. Acceleration realism, even if it was only for in-system this would be very cool. Orbits, even 2d orbits are cool. OH and more powerful gravity issues... But personally this is all secondary to me co
Ugg I hope not lol!
hahahaha Before you weren't funny, but now I must say that you indeed are.
Hey thanks means allot... oh and, To be honest... everywhere...
or maybe you all are simply too impatient to wait for thursday... Don't be a party pooper. I am betting that gas giants have massive gravity wells that contain MORE than just a single moon for colonization dont hold your breath. Damn.... you need cheering up.
Just a little point: Karma, you mentioned that you need realistic physics and engaging gameplay to make a good game. Thats gotta be the most foolish thing I've read you say. I respect your point of view and how gun-ho you are for the physics, and on most things I'll agree with you, not as extremely but in general I think you and I want more physics in the game. But according to that statement, virtually every game ever made is a bad one because of physics. Ha
Our gas giants are the solar system's trash cans, they tend to pull things down into them... so you could have it have very strong gravity, but it wouldn't make much sense if the star didn't have a stronger pull... they could simply be providing a good no-man's land for fights, as well as have colonizable moons.
I'll be using the same name
Yarr then ye won't correct me spelling or Granmmar
I'm fine with no new race, as for MP tech beta we would get way too distracted and concerned about balancing the 2 races wed have as opposed to noticing that every other shot of X new ship produces a small and silly error.
Phone Call to work on the 20th: Me~ "Uhmm, sir I can't come to work today..." Boss~ "Why not, boy I got works for you to do!" Me~ "Well, you see I've been shot..." Boss~ "I Don't Believe for a second that you've be" BANG Me~ "OH MY GOD" Boss~ "What was that!" Me~ "Why Why did you make me shoot myself in the foot! Oh gooodness the bloods" Boss~ "I Didnt mean to, what?" Me~ "I just wante
embargo is kind of like that; obviously not really, but on that track of blockading
Generally it is currently not tweaked to matter very much, I suppose it could if there were a way to hide units behind a planet and hold them there, wait for enemy bombarders to come into range and then spring on them... but no fog of war and such means no sneaky fun.
mmmmmm sweet environment pie! ooo and time to do some online murdering... or sadly be murdered! Seriously though I'm very interested in the new environments, anomalies could be a very big deal... imagine running into anomalies that give your cap ship a unique special ability, and I don't just mean +2 percent to shields... that probablly won't happen but I can dream!
It might be interesting to add the variety of Phase Jump speeds... IE have a red phase lane which goes much slower (or faster?) and notably it would be nice if when 2 phase lanes intercepted it created a bubble or false Gwell, the interference creating a small but empty pocket of non phase-jumpable space. This would give us much needed no-man's land without coming up too often, and would always be a sort of cross roads area. I suggest this because I keep finding the game to be
Nyah, I see your idea, you want a single large solar system, more room for manuvers and such... If you can't change the star size, try doubling the planet/roid gravwell sizes... and make a map where virtually every system has as many connections as possible... Thats closer at any rate; though you should probablly wait for Beta 3, which will likely change star behavoir and who knows what else... we might get new terrain to play with.
