I just bought it off this site and performed a serial lookup... the key that stardock gave me themselves doesn't work. Now I have to wait all week-end to use a digital download because of a registration problem. You know, it would be easier for me to just reverse the charges as "product not delivered" and take my 60 bucks for buying the ultimate gal civ 2 bundle and buy an xbox 360 game that I KNOW will work out of the box. So... I found a "tactic" (it's a cheat but doesn't spoil your submission) To jockey for position at the beginning of the game. Start a new game with whatever settings you want. As soon as the game starts up... save it. I used "Game Start Clean" as a title. Then go in and enable cheats and remove the fog of war. (you can figure out that bit for yourself) Check out your position on the galactic map. Don;t peek at any of the stars... just look how close your neighbors are. If both o

I just use the "general" governor and let all the planets do thier work. My morale and approval drops pretty low, but by then I've focused so much energy on colonizing I have several dozen colonies within a few hours of play. Once all the basic stuff is built I micromanage any planet sitting at pq20+ and concentrate my building of trade goods and wonders on the planets that have the highest social rating, while building all my ships on the other planets. Good idea on the editing of the spaceshark monster.ship file. I made mine have 20hp's and 2atk/2def. I can't tell you how many times I had to restart the game because one of those buggers wandered into my territory and just "camped" my planets destroying everything that cropped up. I don;t play for highscores so in the last one I just enabled cheats... dropped in a few battleships... went sharkin'... and then decommed them but this is a better alternative. thx.

Ok so I've started four or five games... and promptly been shoved into a small star cluster in the corner with a handful of useable planets and am crowded in by at least 4 other races... who don;t want to be friendly enough with me to let me extend my ship's range. This has prolly already been answered... but do I have to use SDC to get my purchased download of GalCiv? I really don;t like installing more apps than I have to on the already horrendously unstable Windows XP. I used to have Windowblinds and stuff like that a long time ago but didn't like the idea of having to re-buy the same product over and over again (windowblinds) so I dropped it. I hope I don't have to do that with GalCiv too.
