Yeah ive noticed this now, items on the start bar such as firefox, photshop etc dont show up on the dock when you open them bit of a pain! You know if you select the text you want quoted and then press Quote , it will automatically quote it for you in your reply, so you don't have to. <img src=

Just built my first PC last year, so I still have the tweaking and upgrading bug. It's fun upgrading a certain part of your system and having it make such a huge difference. And my eye is already on the future with Longhorn and 64-bit support, not to mention PCIe, etc. Notebooks are cool if you need the portability, but it's just not that big of a deal for me. If it was part of my job, that would be different. <a href="../re

In an effort to differentiate themselves from other motherboard manufacturers, Gigabyte has introduced a number of interesting add-ons for their motherboards, the most interesting of which is their $50 RAMDISK PCI card. The card is a regular 32-bit PCI card that features four standard DIMM slots on board. The card also features a custom Gigabyte FPGA that is programmed to act as a SATA to DDR translator, which convinces the SATA controller y

More notebooks than desktops were sold in the United States in May, according to a report released Friday--a milestone in PC sales history. Analysts with research firm Current Analysis said laptop sales jumped to 53.3 percent of the total PC retail market in May 2005. Last year, notebooks made up 45.9 percent of the total PC retail market. Occasionally, notebooks have outsold desktops, but those moments happen during a one-wee

I agree about NetPerSec . I've been using it for years and wouldn't be without it. Regarding Startup CPL , I much prefer Startup Cop , another PC Mag program, which not only allows you to control what starts up on your system, but allows you to save different sets of programs, so you can easily switch things around, depending on what you want to do. True Launch Bar looks pretty cool! One utility I've found indispensable for years is ClipMate . It's a clipboard extender that offers a ton of extra features to the clipboard function, including maintaining a history, organization of old clips, power pasting, etc. Way too much to try and explain here. <img src="http://images.stardock.c

Having to Activate my software doesn't bother me that much, especially 99% of the time my computers are connected to the Internet while they are turned on. It normally only takes a moment or two. On the other hand I will NEVER purchase any product from ScanSoft due to software activation. Not only did I have to activate it when I

Namco celebrated its 50th birthday Wednesday, but the company has more to cheer than its golden anniversary. During its party held in Japan's Yokohama prefecture, Namco was officially awarded for its entrance into the Guinness Book of Records. The company's classic arcade title, "Pac-Man," is being listed in the record book as the "most successful coin operated game" in history.

It is realistic for me - I'm poor! I'm still using a AMD 2000+ processor. Heh. That's not that old! Before I built my own computer last year, I was using an AMD K6-2/400 processor. Now that was old technology! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Ew.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absm

And you can make the screen that comes up in the beginning disappear somewhat by resizing the 2 graphics for it down to 1 pixel. A nice little tool for doing that can be found in the Microsoft powertools and it gets added to your rightclick. Really handy for resizing images and backgrounds! I used to us

If there's one place activation works, it's on mom and pop who want to install something like Windows on two computers, probably not knowing that they're not supposed to, and not having a clue how to acquire a hacked copy (assuming they'd even want to). Then again, mom and pop probably have daughter and son who can take care of it for them. <a

I would love to use it more if I wouln't have to completely personalyse each and every theme. It takes hours to do so and since I love having a desktop that changes according to my mood the seasons and the current politics, customizing each and every theme becomes really tedious. Exactly! You took the
