Agreed...Etrius, you need to show some humility towards Wheel...we never enjoy banning someone here (the more the merrier, provided everyone is civil). Please don't rejoice at someones misfortune...you'll learn that's the quickest way to get your people to stop sticking up for you. OK, off to watch the 24 finale/Pistons game. Enjoy the 1.6 beta update if youre playing it!

The maturity of the target? When I see 'Go play in interstate traffic, tardboy' I'm more concerned with the maturity of the poster No, I wouldn't take offense to that statement...but theres enough of an scathing edge to it where it does throw up some red flags. I meen, I guess it's a basic problem with internet ediquite. A simple '<img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.g

yo, yo, no way! That rap is so ghey. Go play in interstate traffic, tardboy. I'm sorry, but that's not 'adult satire', that's just being an jackass. The original post may not be the most amazing work of 'urban poetry' out there, but should we allow Wheel's blatant disregard of common decency? No way. Theres a significant line between a lighthearted ribbing and unprovoked malice...I think (at least I hope) we can all agr

Don't worry, Etrius, everyone knows it takes more balls to create than criticize - so you just keep rappin' brother As for anyone that feels it necessary to bash the innocent charm of the original post, I suggest you re-evaluate how you spend your time online (I'm looking at you, Wheel) <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Hmm.gif" bo

Yeah, I think the case is closed, and I'm going to lock this puppy up before things get criz-azy. And seriously, speaking of puppies... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8d2xDy5Wuw I can't get enough

Yeah, the only time the GalCiv team does much posting on JoeUser is when we post our 'Development Blogs'....or when Animal Planet airs the weirdest show I've ever seen ( http://boogiebac.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=64080 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXT-sJcJk

Does anyone have a saved game that reproduces this 'ship in the corner of the galaxy' bug? And is this new to 1.6, or have you guys gotten it in previous builds? Keekles: Sounds like you have an account management problem. Have you switched computers or something? I suggest emailing [email protected] they can help you better than we can <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_10 src="ht

"planet X is burgeoning with a population of 18 billion, as we pack more and more people into a world they will become increasingly hard to satisfy". Or "civilizations are becoming increasingly hostile towards us, probably because our military is weak". Intellekt: With that first complaint, if you roll over the numbers on the top of the 'Planet Screen', the morale value in this case, it should bring up a tool-tip with the formula for how this numbers

starchild: I saw that several players were having slowdown issues on Duel-Core + ATI machines that were solved with an update of the video driver. Is this similar to your setup?

Thanks Jeff, And hope you saw the IGN review...they were considerably more impressed by the campaign this time around (than the campaign in Dreadlords)! It's always nice to know that your hard work has paid off

Hmmm...thought this was fixed in code, but what's probably going on is old 'RaceConfig' files pointing to old movies that have been removed. Just go to your 'MyDocuments/My Game/GalCiv2DA' folder and remove all the previous *.RaceConfig files. This will start you off with a clean slate and jar those movies back into use.

Most of the time spent on the EG was done by myself, so I'm not sure what feature would've been attempted without the EG sucking up my soul There would have been very little change to the AI, since I try not to touch Brad's code. One of the big problems we found was the logging for the EG (which we were going to try and salvage for an indepth end-of-game timeline) was that after a year

The biggest change was in the way we utilize textures. In Dreadlords, we were unwrapping ships as you'd unwrap a character...each ship using it's own 256x256 texture (with some of the larger ships using their own 512's). In Dark Avatar, we realized it was better to make a 512x512 texture that could be used by multiple ships, raising the amount of detail but lowering the amount of memory used. The end result are ships with more intricacy and artistic consistancy.

Ugh, it breaks my heart every time the menton the Epic Generator No, it didn't make it into Dark Avatar, but what did get accomplished WILL eventually see the light of day, but it really needs the beta cycle of a full game to work out all the kinks.

I havn't tried posting anything, or logging into any sites, but in terms of speed, flash support, and usability, I was supprised by the quality of the Wii browser. I may even use it (If my wireless laptop is in another room or something)

While this time of year tends to keep even the most cool and collected people on their toes, every so often you need to kick back and unwind. As our own little holiday gift to you, we've released several fun and simple arcade games to help you 'zone out' and forget about all those presents that still need wrapped. In Stardock Central there's a section called 'Free Stuff'. Th
