Hi - Been there, done that. Had built 6 home computers over the years, but the deal that Dell had two years ago when I but the one I have now was less than what I would have paid for the component parts on the open market, even discounted. Sort of a no-brainer. But a word on the sound card: it's a Dell-only special that offloads a significant amount of work onto the processor. Can't be used in any computer that doesn't have a Dell BIO

Hi - Magix Music Cleaning Lab or Steinberg's Clean!, which has been acquired by Pinnacle. I've used Magix extensively for the last several years and have copied no less than 1100 cassettes using it. Fast and does a great job. However, if you are looking at cleaning up OTR, nothing works automatically: you will need to spend quite a bit of time removing artifacts of the recording process by hand.
