Here's a personal favourite. You must have read this before (atleast I did). It was a part of my curriculum in Std. VI or what you might call the sixth grade. It has been etched into my memory ever since. The Arrow and the Song I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For, so swiftly it flew, the sight Could not follow it in its flight. I breathed a song into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For who

here's something that you may relish, a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson. FEAR not, dear friend, but freely live your days Though lesser lives should suffer. Such am I, A lesser life, that what is his of sky Gladly would give for you, and what of praise. Step, without trouble, down the sunlit ways. We that have touched your raiment, are made whole From all the selfish cankers of man's soul, And we would see you happy, dear, or die. Therefore be brave, and

JM, you have been hanging too long on the site. Get a life man
Dear Ryan, Cricket is poetry, its poetry when Jonty dives to save a run, it is poetry when Murali bowls a flipper or McGrath hits the stump. And Ryan, its sheer poetry when a ball hits the middle of Sachin's bat.
Maybe you see poetry in JM's desktop. Bravo! Ande
feline - feline *confused* reading these poems, all i feel is confused, since the words don't seem to flow. no pictures are forming in my head. feline speculates understanding poetry was one of the classes i didn't do at school feline, you don't need to take classes to appreciate poetry, you just need to feel the texture of the verse and make your own deductions. A poem can have varied meanings for different people: that's the way language is. Feel the
Thanx Feline. Checked out the link, but JM was kind enough to put the poem on this thread. And Ande, poetry is all about feeling, just read a line, close ur eyes and try to feel what the poet felt when he wrote it. 'Feel the verse throbbing in ur head' and appreciate the juggelry of the words.
At dawn shey(1) departed My mind tried to console me - " Everything is Maya(2)". Angrily I replied: "Here's this sewing box on the table, that flower-pot on the terrace, this monogrammed hand-fan on the bed--- all these are real." My mind said: "Yet, think again." I rejoined: " You better stop. Look at this storybook, the hairpin halfway amongst its leaves, signaling the rest is unread; if all these things are "Maya", then why should
We kissed at the barrier; and passing through She left me, and moment by moment got Smaller and smaller, until to my view ...She was but a spot; A wee white spot of muslin fluff That down the diminishing platform bore Through hustling crowds of gentle and rough ...To the carriage door. Under the lamplight's fitful glowers, Behind dark groups from far and near, Whose interests were apart from ours, ...She would disappear, Then show ag
Here's another personal favourite, one that suits the situation: ' Where Knowledge is free Where the world has not been broken up into pieces, By narrow domestic walls, Into that heaven of freedom my Father, Let my country prevail. ' Anyone? The poet's name?
Bravo Mr. Werewolf. Good choice.
Here's an excerpt from a personal favourite, ;The Charge of the Light Brigade' by Lord Alfred Tennyson ' "Forward, the Light Brigade!" Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldier knew Someone had blunder'd: Their's not to make reply, Their's not to reason why, Their's but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. '
But the English are a peculiar bunch, 'wot say chap?' Three months of indiscriminate bombing in 1942 couldn't break their spirits, will losing 'The Ashes' the 7th (or is it the 8th) time in a row be enough???
I'll send u a card too: if that makes you happy, hehe. I was thinking more along the lines of making one for friends...
but would people respond?? Do u think that poetry still appeals to the average netizen??? Maybe Fuzzy Logic, u are an optimistic..
perhaps if u could put up a link JM. I couldn't find the thread u were talking bout. And by the way, thanks for the card, nice choice....
what about the bryce book??? ahem...
Let's see. JamMeister33. 10 to 1 he is 33. JM, what bout my X'mas gift?????
Has the genre of poetry lost its charm? I searched for 3 days to find the poem I used in 'Kavita', a wallpaper but got no feedback... I was hoping for a surge of feedback... Is poetry dead????
I use Mandrake, got it with a magazine on a CD, alongwith Windows on a partitioned disk. I agree with gb2000: it is very rewarding.
The same to you buddy
What can I say to that... Except: 'OLD is GOLD' muh man.. by the way, POVRay has a newer version out.........
I have created all my WP's in POVRay, I've used booleans and stuff. And I think that my stuff too has come out looking good (if I may say so myself). That brings me back to the basic question: Why $200 for stuff that can be done as well as better on a freeware? And as for the gallery mich2K, goto povray.org and check out their IRTC website: you'll see what I am talking aout.
