what's a hypersnap? If you could post a link to a screenshot it would help. If you need a place to post it use the news://news.stardock.com/stardock.windowblinds.binaries newsgroup. I think the divider you're looking for is the toolbar gripper. The chunks of color sound like you're expecting a tiled image to stretch? or it might be the margins you've defined on the buttons, try adding a couple pixels to the bottom margin of your toolbar buttons.

A Smart Button is configurable by the user. If the skin has a smart button, in the Config dialog you can choose from 4 plugins. Three of the 4 are standard button functions like rollup, lock on top and URL. The 4th one is quick launch menu which is really handy but for some reason doesn't work on the new WB4 alphas. A graphics card problem maybe? Do you have the latest drivers for your card? Maybe you've enabled some openGI stuff that isn't compatible or something like that. /me knows very little about how to solve graphics problems having been plagued with them in the past. The problems I had before (years ago) all went away when I got an nVidia card and kept the drivers up-to-date.
