And people starve in other nations since the cost of those bio alternatives drive up the price of food staples. PS. This has been refuted. The rising price of food at the moment is connected to the rising price of gasoline, not the increased used of crops for fuel. U.S. food consumer prices, as measured by the government's Consumer Price Index, have risen from a year-over-year rate of 2.5 percent in September 2006

And increase deaths on highways How does increasing the miles per gallon of cars increase deaths on the highway? And people starve in other nations since the cost of those bio alternatives drive up the price of food staples. Not in all cases, Dr. Guy. Have you heard of cellulose ethanol? If not you should check it out -- it's a very interesting and viable alternative. <div class="Article_Quote

A couple of points: 1. Cars don't last forever. Eventually every car that is on the road today will be replaced. Increasing CAFE standards is a long term solution -- I have heard no one saying that everyone would need to go out and buy new cars immediately. Additionally, a CAFE standard would increase the MPG of a car -- not change the type of fuel that it used to make the car run. 2. The same by-products of oil can be made through a bio-refining process. You are using a c

It's no wonder you think he's 'pretty cool' Sorry, poor syntax. I meant both the Capitol tour and the White House tour were pretty cool (though I also have no beef with Senator Voinovich). I'll get thinking on a good place to eat -- I've friends coming over from Barcelona in August so that will give me a trial run at figuring out the best place to take out of towners!

There's always something needing doing in a place. I need to repair the cold water valve in the bathtub in my new place as it doesn't completely shut off and allows for a very slow flow to pass through it. That'll wind up costing me a lot of money in wasted water so I'll be fixing it next time I am home. I shut off the water main when I leave anyway so it'll keep. I'm learning this very quickly -- I definitely have lists of things that NEED to be fi

Thanks, Mod and Colleen! LW--not sure what is going on with my email. Are you using yahoo.co.uk rather than yahoo.com? Other than that, I couldn't tell you why it's acting mental. My other email is my first name _ my last name @ yahoo.com -- And just because everyone spells it wrong, my first name is spelled "Meghan". Hopefully that will work.

I've been meaning to write a post for a while now -- but somehow time just keeps on slipping away from me. However, today I am home sick with a viral rash (?) so I have plenty of time. 1. Let's start with the rash. Yesterday at work, I noticed that my forearms had weird little bumps on them--and then when I woke up this morning my entire body was covered

You could stay with me any time -- while it might be cramped in my one bedroom with the five of us --I don't doubt for a minute that it would be entertaining. Maybe we could set a tent up on the terrace and the boys could go camping!

break the law I'm really confused--what law did you break? If you don't like the treatment that your doctor has recommended (c-section) you are within your rights to seek a new doctor or care provider-- so I'm very confused about what the issue really was.

But I don't have to like it that other religions are, at long last, finally starting to push Christianity out of government, leaving government without a moral standard to hold on to. No, the point is that this nation is so weak and shallow without Christianity that the nation cannot survive. I'm pretty sure that it's dharma who says it (or maybe its is someone else here on JU, but it's not a "shades" original

First of all, this was the Navy Chaplain's words, not mine I clearly understood that KFC which is why I said WHEN YOU QUOTE. xactly who are the "religious right?" Have you heard any of them speak out praising these Christians? They dont' have to praise them, they WERE them. So I suppose it's depending on which side you're on Or you could watch the video and decide for yourself. Rather than believing someone elses account, why don't you watch it. I found it rather distasteful. No. This is a case of Shades jumping to conclusions. First off did you even ask if I agreed with these protestors? My apologizes, I didn't realize you represented the entire Religious Right. I was

For those who are interested, here is a video of the events. They were certainly not "immediately removed." In fact, Senator Casey asked for order to be restored three times. This was nothing short of disrespectful. http://www.breitbart.tv/html/2957.html

KFC, do you honestly believe they were escorted out because they were Christians? From everything I've read, they were escorted out for loudly interrupting the prayer. The presiding officer of the Senate asked for order to be restored and they continued and were thus escorted out. They were charged with unlawful disruption of Congress. It is not okay to "shout" someone down in the Senate, regardless of the circumstances. I can not imagine that you would hold this same position ha

Ask shades {meg} I give good housewarming.. heh heh heh not just good -- brilliant. I'm telling you, you won't regret it! As for trust (which I am defining as "confident expectation"), I think you can trust for different things. For example, I trust that my neighbors will keep an eye on my place and let me know if there is something wrong or something t

DJ/Charles/whatever your name is-- I really can't, for a moment, believe that you have no idea what it is that you do that drives TW crazy. But if you really are that clueless, may I gently suggest that your posts may, possibly come off as condenscending and chauvinistic? Just a thought you might wish to consider -- but what do I know, being so "dim" and all. Oh yea, and if you are going to insult me -- at least have it make sense.

I don't see it as force to expect a woman to deal with the consequences of her behaviour, shades. To "force" a woman to have a baby would, in my opinion, require impregnating her against her will, and in cases where that happens (rape, incest, etc) I suppose a better wording would have been "force" her "to carry the pregnancy to term" rather than "have a baby" -- but I do understand your point. What's your stance on private health insurance co
