You get fat because you eat too much and move too little It seems so simple, and yet it is so hard to follow! Good luck Karma! Let us know how it goes.

25 cents a book! I need to find me some yard sales. I might try to read some of those as well so that when you do your reviews I can add something intelligent! I find that I read a lot more in the summer--must be because I am such a beach bum!

Lying awake one night around three am, my boyfriend at the time and I started talking politics. Now it is fair to say conversations held at three am are not often a great idea. Probably also fair to point out that this is not a good time to discuss politics. I was very sleeply, had to be up early in the morning, and was really only pretending to be engrossed in wha

If you were to have one last meal, what would it be? seafood--lobster, fresh seabass, scallops, little necks, mussels, chowder, stuffies...and lots of it What is the most original way you have embarassed yourself? I don't feel that I have any originally in this field, though I do tend to embarrass myself on a regular basis. What is your favourite word? interesting. What is your favourite expletive? for fuck's

Blogging is meant to be fun right? It's a place where I can write down my ideas, sort out my feelings, analyze my political leanings, and engage others in thoughtful dialogue. I suppose that only happens in a Blogging Utopia. Well, my friends, JoeUser has a long way to go before it's going to be the Blogging Utopia of my dreams. And let me just say, th

Already camera shy, eh? Or maybe she doesn't want you to have evidence and make her hold her own bottle all the time!

I read it a while ago and have only a hazy memory of the plot, but I remember finding the book very disturbing. It was an interesting read--I remember sitting on the roof of my apartment building and trying to read as fast as I could because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Can't wait to see what else you are reading!

It actually wasn't based on one incident. JoeUser seems to occur in cycles and the same "bad manners" happen over and over again. So, no, you did not inspire any of the numbers. Sorry to disappoint you. As for the utopia, like I said before, all I am asking is that people have respect and manners. That should be a given.

Larry: You are a great example of both #8 and #9. You are one of the few people that I actually enjoy discussing poitics with, and it's not because we agree all the time. Rather it is because you disagree respectfully. I've learned a lot from you in the short time that I've been here (and one of these days I'm actually going to post a blog on our Middle East page!).

but if you look at today's society all women have the same basic rights as men Not really. Inequalities still exist. Women are still looked upon as sex objects rather than human beings...you need only look at the seconding and thirding of Saiyan Robot's comment to see this. There was an article on M

Zoo: Just so you know, I do not disagree that the blogger in question was acting horribly immature and said many hurtful things to many people. However, I have faith in our admins that they will resolve the problem. When you engage in a fight, it causes you (not the immature blogger) to lose face and respect. So, as hard as it is: walk away and ignore!

oh yea, one more thing regarding feminism. When I was in college, my favorite t-shirt read, "Feminism: The radical notion that men and women are equal." One of my favorite quotes is Rebecca West's "I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat." Feminism is not penis envy.

Thanks Kayles and Mason. Little whip: That is the notion of an Utopia. I wouldn't need sanctions, because, by nature, everyone would abide. It's not that I can't handle the jerks or that I need a more heavily moderated forum, I just think that the community would function better if people minded their manners. That's not too much to ask, is it?

but it kinda gets on my nerves if i would happen to see two guy/girls kissing or making out infront of me Does it bother you if two straight people are making out in front of you? I find PDA disgusting regardless of who is partaking! </fon

I am neither barbaric nor pathetic because I believe in a woman's right to choose. I will not attempt to hold a discussion with a name caller. This conversation is over.

ok, I'll play alcohol: often, none. But then there are some nights that I'll go on a complete bender--rare but fun! sex partners: 3 cigarettes: it usually mimics my alcohol consumption... age: 23, or 17 drugs: 1 countries: USA, Canada, Aruba (or should I say the Netherlands?), England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Israel, Occupied Palestine, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland--that makes 14.

Trina-- I too am a fan of the broken truth filter! I think Muggaz summed it up best with his "once a wanker always a wanker" comment. Some people are around for the points and the popularity. Some people get a kick out of proving everyone else wrong. For some people, JU plays a very important role in their life. For the rest of us, JU is a fun place to exchange ide
