all the aging in the world isn't going to make the ladder newbie accessible *ever*.
Not quite true I feel. I still consider myself "new" in comparison to many of the players in the metaverse (first game 25th Feb 2004), but have managed to so far reach 11th place. In a couple of days, I should mange to pass Jaws - who was number 1 when I started, so that is a major achievement for me. There are also a number of other newer players in the Galactic Guardians that a
If these are all correct observations and assumptions, then Monday should see Ray the Wanderer (59 games) drop to 57, and Jaws (126 games, 1069564 pts) drop to 125 and take a 5% score hit due to aging...
Ray is down to 57 games today. Jaws is down to 125, and his score dropped by 37,000 - not quite 5%, but the difference is probably explained by scores moving into different blocks....
Statbot says I played 240 games 208 on the Metaverse.
Tech, if I'm right, and you submit your next game today or tomorrow, then you will still have 208 games. If you submit your next game on Monday, you will have 207 games.
Mine still seem to score.....
Err... Alex, you don't have any games prior to June 2003. ;) I've been looking into this, been monitoring one or two profiles with game losses, and have come to the conclusion that games have a maximum life of 331 days in the metaverse. However, when and where they are dropped seems to differ for those still submitting games compared to those who aren't. For example... Ray the Wanderer lost one game today, which fits in ni

That's great info Aeon. Thanks. Does anyone know how to stop the "research complete" event music from overriding the MP3s? I've got the "DisableEventMusic=1" line in the prefs.ini, but it doesn't seem to do any good. :notsure:

Interesting thoughts... OK, here goes with a couple of answers: First, AP (and I think the latest patch for GC) eliminates the problem of minors building TGs so quickly - they can't build them at all anymore. So I guess that's the 'tweak' you were hoping for. :) You can also turn the minors off altogether in AP. There is a cheesy way to solve the bad starting position aswell. Ctrl-N until you get one that feels good, save the game, enable cheat codes, Ctrl-U to reveal the entir
What exactly do you do?
You really wouldn't want to know - it's not pretty! :D Stop by on Raven's Claw and I'm sure one of us would be happy to describe in full detail (with a free demonstration included) how we deal with the Yor. ;)
Guardians and G.R.O.S.S are not allowed to submit requests beacause they are possessed of irrational xenophobic hatreds.
I can never seem to get a score higher than 35000 on a large map even playing maso
Using 1.20, that wouldn't be far off the average. Play the same way on a large maso now you've got AP, and you should see a significant increase. 60K is fairly easy on a large / maso / military win now. Just don't finish a game before Jan 2190, as that halves the score.
The Terraformer achievement is a key strategic resource in victory.
Only if your games last long enough to get there. I very rarely even get as far as building the terraforming planetary improvement. Honor and Justice! http://guardians.galciv.org/index.html

Both excellent ideas, but I don't see something like that ever making it into GalCiv1 unfortunately. Hopefully something can be done for GC2. The hotkey would have been so useful last night, when I was trying for 60K on a crippling. Ended up reloading the endgame save and researching another tech after getting 59,984. :)
lure them towards nutrient rich Yor and Drengin trade convoys
What a fine and noble idea - except that we Guardians will have already destroyed any Yor we find. ;)
A tax on all people who destroy/conquer more than 30 galaxies a month? You can't submit Scenarios or random maps with any of the "custom rules" selected yet, but you should get a message telling you that when you hit submit. Also make sure you have the latest patch "M". There was a bug in a previous one that prevented submitting in some cases. Otherwise, check the details are correct on the submission screen, and your connection at the time. Of the starting minors, only the Alexians will easily flip - the others have huge loyalty bonuses and won't flip until very late in the game when you have huge influence bonuses. It is done this way to prevent them flipping too soon and making you or another AI too strong too early. Not sure about the fundies, but I would imagine they would have even higher loyalty bonuses by their very nature. Honor and Justice! http://guardians.galciv.org/index.html
