Thanks Alex! :D

Go to the "Purchase" item in the menu bar on the left of this page and select "Altarian Prophecy D/L when released". You will receive a serial number by e-mail when the purchase is completed which you then need to register in Stardock Central, select "Show pre-releases" and you can then download it.
I play nearly all my games with no more than 4 planets throughout, and never build any military. As mentioned, trading and diplomacy are the key. +60% diplomacy starting pick makes games a lot easier. Use freighters a lot - they make slow scouts, but have the best range in the game and you need that if you're stuck in a corner. Corner starts are the hardest for a builder strategy, as you rely heavily on early contacts for trading, but it is not unwinnable. Good luck.
Yeah, what Kemperor said Athilla. It's a law of diminishing returns that is used to give the "occasional" submitter the chance to still compete in the metaverse against the "crankers". Think yourself lucky - I get about 4K for a 60K game. :) Things improve a bit when you move beyond your first 30 day block. There are plenty of in-depth discussions about this around the forums - just do a search on "metaverse scoring" and you should find all the info you need. :HOT:
I think you've got your answer :) I honestly haven't seen any of the beta players saying it's not worth it. The big thing is, the game is far more customiseable now increasing the replayability even more. :HOT: Honor and Justice! http://guardians.galciv.org/index.html
Thanks Stardock. The "M" build is looking good so far. Still some "string not found" errors for morality, but nothing major, and submissions seem to be working fine. :CONGRAT: :HOT:
Gerakken, as a relative newcomer to the metaverse I fully respect the position in "the community" of the long standing members such as yourself, and know that you offer a lot in many different ways. Unfortunately, the majority opinion is clear, and surely you must respect that majority (many of whom will also be long standing members of the community). It is a shame you feel you have been segregated, but the empire forum is open to all who wish to view or contribute there, and
I think you'll find that most of the empires are quite happy where they are. Unfortunately there are a minority who just won't let it go. You would think that the clear as day current poll with very high majority would be enough for them to realise how it has to be. As you say, it would probably have been a good idea to (re)move the old empire threads from the main forum to prevent this.
I meant decide not to send you freighters
You must have a knack for upsetting them Matthew, I usually get lots of freighters coming in from the minors. It's a pain that you can't trade for ships with the minors, but now they don't build TGs they're very little annoyance and good for those early tech trades, leaving you spare tech to trade with the majors for freighters, advanced trade etc. As all they ever do is fill their orbits up with corvettes, then they are easily co
Captain JS, I salute you :HOT: One of the most outstanding posts anywhere within these forums. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Aah, now I know who Dream Warrior is LOL
Hope that wasn't bad form, and that my play level won't get me kicked right back out.
Not at all. It's an open empire, and any level is welcome. :HOT:
Populists, +60% Diplomacy, +5% PQ, +20% Social Production, playing on huge/rare. Trade for everything. Luck definitely increases your chances of finding a "lucky Ranger". I've never had one without it, but I have had the 100 useless corvettes. :notsure:
Athilla, Check this thread: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=155607 Looks like you'll have to wait for the next update to submit that game, but you should be OK with new games if you follow Carielf's instructions for the prefs.ini. Oh, yeah... drop by the Guardians thread in the Empires section and you'll see that a few people have had this problem - you'll probably get an answer straight away for any problems. [Message Edited]
its the planets with low morale that flip.
Doesn't seem to work that way. All my planets were at 100% morale, and all flipped. Interestingly, I was "chaotic-evil" and lost everything, the Drengin and Korx were "pure evil" and lost 1 or 2 planets each. The I-league event is definitely affected by morale, but the fundies don't appear to be.
Bringing this one to the top again, as something needs to be done about this. I just had the fundies appear, and all 4 of my systems rebelled... game over! All were at 100% morale, so that is not a factor. At the very least, something needs to be programmed in to prevent your homeworld from rebelling. If this can happen randomly and cause an instant loss in a game that you have dominated from the start, then you might as well just have a coin toss animation at start of g
Build all of them and you get +55% logistics, which will reduce the cost of building a starbase by 55%.
If you've already built, say, a Logistics Management Center, and you capture an AI planet that is currently building one.... let it complete the build and you get the benefit of both. I've achieved a logistics rating of 95% this way. No idea what happens if it gets over 100% - do you get money for building starbases? :D It doesn't work if you capture a planet
Dreadnought! The extra attack and defense more than make up for the hit point defecit. As Peace Phoenix says though, the AMM is the weapon of choice if you just want to build your military rating up. The Phoenix is great if you've got Grav Accs and can keep it away from enemy ships - use it as a hit & run ship to take out AI transports and non-capital ships.
I'm very interested in starting picks
A very common choice for the higher difficulty levels is Populists, with +50/60% Diplomacy. Lets you boss the AI around a bit :) I think Greldon has already shown you the way to go, so I'll not add another recruitment line ;)
They come with the Altarian Prophecy Expansion.
Subtle Matthew! NOT!!! :HOT:
How's your economy and diplomacy? If they're both good, compared to the AIs, you can buy / trade their ships in orbit and use them to invade. Co-ordinate it so that you take every system out in 1 turn, and it won't matter that you agreed to pay them x-thousand for 99 months - because they won't be around to collect it. ;) If diplomacy is not good enough for that, then Terror Stars or culture bombs (as you're playing on V1.2) are your best bet. Alliance is the quickes

There is a bug in AP 1.49J that causes the auto-survey to stop working sometimes, usually when it's picked up an anomaly right at the map edge. It's a right pain trying to do it manually, so I end up just ignoring the Survey ship for the rest of the game >:( A few people have mentioned this in the bug report thread, so hopefully Stardock will fix it.
