I think XP has a specific 64 bit version, but it's pretty bad. I'd get either win7 or win8 64 bit.
I was thnking about either the XP 64-bit or the Wiin8 64-bit. Does anyone have any thoughts on either of these?

And thank you, Brad, for helping to give us Fallen Enchantress; and I'll also thank you in advance for your efforts in the year to come on behalf of FE.
Like Windows 7, XP also comes in two flavors, 32 bit and 64 bit. Here's a link with step-by-step instructions on how to tell if you have a 32 or 64 bit Windows XP: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp/ht/windows-xp-32-bit-64-bit.htm
Thanks for the link, Value. Now my situation is obvious. I am running Windows XP Home edition - which only comes as a
The Adventuring Guild sounds real neat. Evokes imagination. But is a red herring. Adventuring? More like the Sitting Guild. Is only good for adventurers who sit. Course that's good for champs who grant city boons, but i never get around to having even those dudes sit around, they're always active. i'da used the name Adventuring Guild for a building which grants quests, or unlocks new random events, or affects actual adv
I must just be an old fogey, but I love a good printed manual. *sigh*
I'm with you Charon. One thing about having the rules in book format is that it's smaller and easier to maneuver. When I first get a manual, I heavily mark it with highlighters to facilitate learning and retrievability. I made a printout of the three FE manuals but they were very bul
I can live with the '10' options, but I'd like to see more variety in the 10 options - and this wouldn't take up any more memory. Another thing I'd like to see is the option to choose between male & female options for the minor heroes.
Do you know the version of Windows you are running? It's apparently not Windows 7. Your processor is 64 bit capable, but that doesn't mean you're automatically running 64 bit. That requires you to have both a 64 bit CPU (that you have) and a 64 bit operating system. It seems you probably don't have the latter.
Yes, I'm <span style="font-si
One thing I would like to be able to do when looking at a city is to see a popup when I mouseover a buildiing telling me what the building is and what the next upgrade, if any, is to that building.
Thanks for your reply Parrotmath, but I don't have folder called 'System and Security' in my control panel. I only have a 'system' and 'Security Center.' A glance through my motherboard manual, under CPU, lists the AMD Athlon 64 processor (K8). I always assumed that that meant that my Athlon 64 was running 64 bit.
I'd like to see a city display that allows the player to enlarge a city and then, when you 'mouseover' a buildiing, you get a popup showing what the building is and what the next upgrade is.
Here's what my system properties say... AMD Athlon 7850 Dual-Core processor 2.80 GHz, 3.37 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension and I know my processor is an AMD Athlon 64
Very instructive play-through Tuidjy, I've learned a lot. Your graphics are interesting. I was surprised to see multiple cities and multiple units displayed on the screen simultaneously. Good job! [e digicons][/e]
I agree. My adventurers are always out adventuring.
I like this idea also.
I'll concur with what a couple of other people have already mentioned. Namely, it is extremely useful to have two or three (preferably three) ARCHERS in your party. Ranged attacks are the way to go early in the game because you may get to do two or three turns of damage before the monsters can close with you. Along the same line, keep an eye out for some immediate-casting s
I believe that I'm using an Athlon 64 duel-core processer. Shouldn't that be enough?
Well, I reset all the switches and started a new game. Hated to lose all the hours I put into the last game, but I had no choice. Hope I'll have better luck in my next game. thanx Parrottmath for your assistance.
You could check your preference files you can edit the lines to revert back to the old settings I suppose.
I tried that and it didn't help. I think it has something to do with saving a game after I have changed the display settings (but not yet displayed the game on the new settings).
When changing a display switch in the Options screen, I received the message to restart the game. When I did, the graphics were all gone and the screen was mostly white. Is there any way to undo this or must I start a new game?
There is a setting in options to turn them on. Basic Options, middle column.
Thank you for your reply. I have checked the Basic Options, middle column and everything is already turned on (except particle effects). What is the setting called?
After making some changes to my 'options,' I received the message to restart the game. When I did, the screen was entirely whited out. All three of my listed saves have this problem. Is this a correctable problem or do I have to start another game?
I remember the FE screenshots (and advertising) showing the cities populated by people, but all of my cities are ghost towns. Where are all of the people?
I also would like to see travel by boat, and ports of call, and even ship-to-ship combat!
I'd lilke to see road-building brought back also.
Thanks for the post Frogboy. I immediately noticed the speed-up in your code. Thanks especially for the description of what was included in the update. I like the quick updates because that gives us a chance to evaluate the updates more closely in order to give feedback. p.s., I'm still holding out for someday being able to govern from the 'Govern&#
