Yeah that's what's really pissing me off - It used to be I'd always be a mid pack player but now it seems that the AI is so smug - I've reproduced this three times - Enemy has one planet left, but it's military rating is twice mine - even though im using superior firepower and ships. It's bogus because I can't offer a peace treaty. Peace really needs to work on a system of "How have our ships faired against them" system and perhaps a modifier for "How have our ships faired against them

Please move this post - not sure how I posted in this forum.
I've been playing through a game of TA and noticed that the enemy AI always has three times the military score that I do - I never build star bases but the enemy AI has spammed them up. It would appear that the Drengin who have twice the military score I do are getting there points through all of the Military starbases they've built. Normally this wouldn't be worthy of reporting but they declared war on me, and having stomped all but one of there planets they've STILL got twice the military scor
^^^ +1 Agreed with above happens ALOT.
This game could REALLY use an auto save feature - I was playing a game earlier and after perhaps 4 hours of play my computer hard locked on me (not beta related). Anyway an auto save feature would be welcomed- preferably on a time slider (ex: set how long between auto saves never/5mins - 30 minitues). Also it'd be nice if it had a similar function to GalCiv 2 in that it did "auto save" and "previous auto save". That is all for now.
must of been a 32-bit install I take it - the 64-bit edition laughs at 2gbs of ram much less 4... damn my 5.5

I ally the ai and let there HUGE fleet get into one of my fort planets and destroy it - they AI ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS back stabs you and theres NO point in allying them other then to lure them to your uber defensive gateway planet then unallying and sending in your force ... seriously alliances are USELESS and need to be made more GalCiv 2 style.
Gee I feel dumb now - thanks for pointing that out.
Used to be when you zoomed on the mouse wheel it'd travel towards the cursor (this was good) now it merely zooms in (this is bad). Anyway to go back to the old setup?
The easiest way to get rid of phased space lanes is to take away upkeep on gun platforms - this would allow you to build quite a few and perhaps reduce all other defensive structures upkeep - That way you can reasonably defend EACH system. Lets face it in almost all SciFi every inhabited planet has SOME kind of defense system. Currently none are in place simply because I only defend my choke points and NOT my core worlds.
Two things - First the mouse control feels a bit odd the zooming in and out doesn't feel as smooth as the way Supreme Commander's works - for some reason sometimes when I go to zoom in it doesn't always go exactly where my mouse pointer is - it'll end up just a bit off (if per say the mouse pointer is at the far left but i'm already halfway zoomed in) - the game really needs to prefer to strafe (move the camera left/right/forward/back) over zoom in. Secondly - not really a beta 1 issue
Okay I've not been able to reproduce this yet - However at one point while sitting at the title screen for about a minute the game didn't crash but the screen went completely green. I had to reboot and that fixed the problem. I tried just leaveing the game running and walking away but it didn't green screen me again. At the time I had just changed my AA options to 4x and gone into the single player configuration screen and was fiddling with the options (bounty on and so forth) and BAM green scre
I just played a 4 hour game and it felt like maybe 30 minutes... I've not been this lost in a game (that's most assuredly currently having no fun) since Moo 2 first released. It's a very un-fun game... yep If beta 1 is this unfun just imagine how much less fun we'll have with beta 2! Wow quite a bit of fun admittedly I was playing on easy so as to learn the game mechanics but
Oh heck I'm an idiot
Upon startup I see the movies play, I get the Star dock central video and even get to the "Soase beta 1" screen right after that though the game goes to a black screen. I hear music playing but nothing else will happen. I do however have a similar problem where the screen looks like the game is running in a window. I can see my windows desktop but the game is completely blank. Intel quad core Geforce 8800GTX 2gbs of ram Windows Xp
Yes and I've been in contact with them for about a month and it's still broken - I didn't mean I was still waiting for a response I just meant it's not working yet! But, I do have like 27 metaverse games just waiting for submission as soon as it works.
When it's done!
Just remember there will be NO FUN allowed in beta 1.
The good news is - I'm still waiting.
I build a TOP of the line computer every 5 years - works fine for me I put away $15 a week for a new computer and then after the five years is up I build a top of the line one (have 3,900 saved by then)... thus when my computer came due last December I ended up with a quadcore two 8800gtxs and 4gbs of ram.
I recently obtained (cough) a copy of Galactic Civilations 2 Dreadlords,
for me its the cookies that Blair gives out.
It's not really unknown it was good but it came out against some pretty tough competition - technicly Hagemonia is Imperium Galactica 3 under a different title. There's an expansion as well.
