Before the release of GalCiv there was a thread on the forum regarding the availability of the game in Australia. After a number of people responded someone suggested that we make an empire of Australian players once the game proper was released.

Were people still interested in doing this? (I did a quick check to make sure someone hadn't already created an aussie empire but could not find any)

Hmm I looked at a couple of Southern Crosses (I quite liked the Ken Done ones) but none of them look any good at 35 x 35; I will persevere and see if I can find anything good...

ANZAC Empire at number 9!! The flag is almost there. I sacrificed my Monday so as to complete a gigantic map for us all, and got a good score. From now on I'll just play for fun.

Kiwi Greg: If I get time tonight I'll check out ezboards. Even if its the only gigantic map you ever play, milk it for those points. I got up to 11 trillion population in mine until I just had to end it. :)

Kiwi Greg - I had a look at that ezboard link and it looks pretty good.

It would be handy to have a separate forum to post to rather than just continually adding to this thread.

Though I noticed that a few sections asked for a password to access them even after creating an ezboard account.

btw...welcome to all the recent additions to the empire and keep up the good work :)

Once you have your copy you can go to this page - http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp

There you enter the serial number that comes with GalCiv to register for the Metaverse.

Then you can go here - http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=223

That is the ANZAC Empire page where you'll find a "Join Empire" button.

My problem with the gigantic games is just the time. I mostly enjoy the opening devleopment land grab phases; often I run out of patience in the mid-game.

This is where I quite like the Metaverse as it has provided the incentive to just finish rather than quit and start another game.

Anyway its going quite well. I am trying another one on pure evil (worth it for the soldiering bonuses alone) and have managed to land grab about a third of the map. We have also had the "share tech" event at 8 techs so my under investment in research has been rewarded by the generosity of those aliens :).

Only thing not going so well is I have missed nearly all the trade build so far.
