Acadia and the Maritimes are not the same thing either.

Acadia was the French colonies in the Maritimes. It included some areas of each of the Maritime provinces (not sure about PEI but I think so), but it was never the entirity of any of them. Saint John, N.B. and Halifax, N.S. for example are two very "english" cities.

I am of 100% Acadian decent, although to the horror of my fellow French Canadians, I am assimilated. I am the first generation English speaking (1st language) in my family. Although, my ancestors go way back in Canada, I think like 13 generations on both sides. That's long for Canada, it's hard to go back much farther unless you have aboriginal blood.

In 1605, the French established the first permanent European settlement in what is now Canada. They named their small settlement Port Royal, and named the vast lands surrounding it, Acadie. However, the British wanted the land for their own. In 1713, the Treaty of Utrecht gave the British a strong foothold in this part of the New World they gave it their own name, Nova Scotia, Latin for New Scotland.

One of my relatives traced my family in North America back to the 17th Century.

Our ancestors were living in the area for 100 years. Maybe our relatives came in on the same boat

I'm a little disappointed that there's been no definiative statement the the Stardockians on what consitiutes an unbalanced mod. (If I've missed this let me know and you can ignore the reset of this. :))

While I understand that they may not want to supply details, because there's always some one who'll take advantage, a little hint would be helpful. Maybe we could suggest a group to 'validate' the mods. I'm sure that Frogboy could supply some guidelines on what he considers the boundries to be.

I think that Stardock if they really want level things out need to snuff out the cheese.


They have never set out guidelines of what is considered an unbalanced mod.

An event raises PQ 3 points is okay, 30 points is bad where is the line ?


I play unmoded, but I think any mods in the library are tested and can be used.

I just whiched it was easier to add and move mods.

Adding is easy unzip and go removing unless you back up a game is harder.

Any fellow Canadians happy that the PC and Alliance has merged?

I know I am. Finally after many years where we had to put up with a weak federal government things may finnaly change.

Maybe in 10 years liberal and NDP with have a unit the left agreement.

To be truthful I think the Liberal/PC/Alliance are all the same. Humm... All promise tax cuts, or more health care or better military or no deficit or no patronage or better accountability or whatever.

Some get done, others don't. I'm pretty much convinced that the difference between them all is only one or points on the left or right of the overall political centre.

I think it's really a mix of platform and personality. I mean how many heads of state do you know that will sit in a MickyD and get lampooned by the likes of Rick Mercer.

I've voted both ways. Right and Left depending on which way I thought the country should be going a little left or a little right.

For those of you who read SF, did you note that a Canadian author just won the Hugo award for best novel? 'Hominids' by Robert J. Sawyer. I've only read his Calculating God, which was a touchy, feely book where even the 2 baddies were merely misguided (but hey, he's Canadian). I think he bases his novels in Canada too. You guys should give it a look.
