If it's decided by a judge, sorry, it ain't a sport. Thus boxing gets the boot ('cept when they win by knockout...then I'll call it a sport). interesting concept. worth considering. but the points system is more for safety reasons. i don't know if i can begrudge em for that. but it is a valid point. hmmmm...got me thinkin

would you say that there is any physical component in the definition of a sport? i think that's a given. ESPN, remember what ESPN stands for... Entertainment & Sports Premium Network. that's how poker ends up on there. and any competition, athletic or otherwise, can be described as "entertaining", at least to someone.

you are so right here. at least 98% of the time. most christian music tries to mimick pop trends and ends up just being a poor imitation. every once in a while tho, there are a few valid artists. i thought amy grant had a decent run of songs in the 80's. jars of clay were a pretty solid band. a few others...but like i said before, 98% of it is pure crap that's more about using pop trends to hook people on jesus than creating anything that actually tries to carve it's own path. <br/

I think that a lot of people would disagree with any definition that didn't include track events as a sport. track and field...no defense. athetic competitions are a better definition.

i have to agree...church is not a democracy. Most who profess the faith accept those tenets and many live by them. here, i gotta disagree. i see as much lip service from people who call themselves catholic as most other faiths. now hasidic (sp?) orthodox jews...there's a group that takes a creed and sticks to it.

again...how much conflict has isreal and egypt had since the agreement? zero...case closed. argue all you want...i still see carter's initiative as a great achievement. and his agreement happened and was followed up and honored where everyone else's (like oslo) fell apart shortly after the public "hand shaking" your so fond of and erroneously put on the same level. that doesn't mean i wouldn't move carter off this list. i'm just not going to damn him and twist where

especially after the Monica Lewinsky affair what did hillary do that was so bad during that? the woman got humiliated in front of the world. i'm sorry MM, but i would probably forgive hillary for any "off-center" reaction to that. and i really don't know of anything she did that was that aggregious...do you? and isn't it ironic that 9 years later, we find the white house in another scandal involving a young woman named monica at it's center. lol

Walter Cronkite had about as much to do with that. Carter was in the right place at the right time, and didn't deserve the credit for it, walter cronkite didn't get them both to camp david and put them in a room and didn't let em go until they agreed on a peace pact. i know you can't give carter credit for anything baker. but he does deserve credit for that. no one else has done it. that's a fact. and that has nothing to do with measuring him up with nixon. i never even

your answer is a lot better than dictator col. gene thanks dan...understand that money plays a big part. but money isn't everything. and at certain levels, it matters less than at others. another big factor is organization. at the large campaign level, the parties are so much more organized and "pre-hired" and have national and local party resources available 24/7- 365. an independent candidate must both do all that work in getting people and organizati

Wow. No need to get all mad - you've got an odd spelling of a common name. You'd think you would get used to it after a while that wasn't anger. just a request. and conners (and the other derrivatives) with an "er" is not exactly rare. plus, you were addressing me directly, so spelling my name right would be simple common courtesy regardless of what it was.

First of all, every single car sold in the united states is equipped with non-shattering glass unless it's an antique) so that's nothing particularly special, and certainly nothing to brag about. i know. it is also not something to rip on. I realize that some people, particularly those who really can't afford such a car, still find it necessary to own one (and brag about it often) because they have other...a

Mr. Connors . . . ist,,,if yer gonna bother to address me like that, at least have the decency to spell my name right. Draginol stated Modern US presidents read the subtitle. one more note...if we're gonna skewer carter, who is still the only president to broker a peace deal with isreal and anyone (which still stands today with egypt) then ya can't let hoover off the hook. he was the stewar

bay buchannan? you are swallowing this tripe? she's going around talking about her "concern" for obama"....what a laugh. ... On the January 1 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, discussing the "New Year's resolutions" of 2008 actual and potential presidential candidates, CNN political analyst Bay Buchanan "recommend[ed]" that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) "go[] in his closet, find out everything that's there, what he's done, thought about say

This is a debate that people have tossed around for years. Exactly what defines a "sport?" To me, this is how I define them and some reasons why other activities and competitions are not included in my list of sport. 1) Sports must have 2 sides. Offense and defense. And both sides must have equal opportunities. The roles can change throughout the compettion,

this is a good read. most of this stuff was taught to me by my father growing up. he actually made me a list one time and i still have it. it is very similar to this. and his advice has served me well on both sides of the interview desk. a couple of notes... #4 DON'T BULLSHIT depending on the definition of this, i might disagree a smidge. i've done most of my hiring in the sales field. in a more technical operations

there is certianly a good case to be made for each. and a counter argument for each of course. i would probably move johnson down the list at least, because of his civil rights work. but, overall, he wouldn't move down very far. the one i believe was missed in this list was president tyler. john adams tried to have him impeached for misusing the veto. the effort did not succeed. but that wasn't the worst of it. tyler, a former us p

actually. it has more to do with the 2 majors shutting out independents and 3rd party candidates. it is most obvious in the presidential debates. the debates are run by "the commission on presidential debates." that sounds all nice and official and non-partisan. but it is actually a private entity that has the sole purpose of keeping the debates so controlled that no real damage can be done to the candidates. interaction between candidates is severely curtailed. and all "3rd parties" an

After dropping as much on a car as some people spend on their first homes, one would expect the windshield to remain intact that might be true, except i was in the car business at the time, and it was an "inside" deal. A true 'quality' car wouldn't have these issues, regardless of the make or model. you deem in your wisdom, that lexus's now suck, because my windshield got a crack in it and d
