i want no foreign nation running our erminals or our ports. thatis not racist. i never once implied any preference because i have none. again,,,bad analogy as you assumed facts not in evidence, and simply wrong.

baker....the shipments are not inspected regularly,,,5% is the generally accepted number. ,,,but if i was smugglin a nuke...i know i would only have 1 shot in all likelyhood....whereas 1 in 20 is a good number if i'm smuggling heroin thru a mule...i'd wanna improve my odds. and if i had countless billions to do it...buying up some terminals would make sense. do ya'll remember the moral of the "trojan horse?" or how bout hansel and gretel? in this case,

sorry guy,,,i didn't realize this was all about the terminology for ya....ok terminals....but the fact still remains,,,nuclear bombs are smuggled thru the terminals at the ports. and ya only need 1. but they would have 11 options at their disposal.

as i stated in my last reply "(i hope) we actually get serious about port security." i believe this deal is representative of our lack of seriousness on the issue. as far as political opportunism goes,,,,i don't think so. but that charge is easy to throw....from any side to any other side. as far as a wholesale acceptance of your suggestions....i still look at things on a case by case basis. and as far as this being rationa

guy,,,you keep pointing to the guys at the top, and "control" of the port....as i said in my own article on this subject (i've been thinking about this dubai deal) ...i could care less who "controls" the port...it's about access, and access to information. one does not infiltrate at the top...infiltration and smuggling type operations are done from the bottom,,,it's much easier to bribe any number of desperate, way in debt dock workers or drug using d

i enjoyed reading your article...and agree with you on many points....one note, as someone who has pointed out that 2 of the h/j'ers were from UAE. i don't say it in saying that they are representative of their country (which seems kind of a strawman arguement to me) but i do rationalize that these 2 weren't alone, they were just the ones who came here. but i'm sure that when they were there they had friends and / or family who thought the same way.</f

in some respects this comes off as a bribe or incentive to Dubai for their post 9/11 support. i have no problem with incentives, but this is a lil too much of one for my comfort. in the end of this, i hope this deal is rejected and we actually get serious about port security.

what i'm saying is that is about the access to information,,,intelligence...that they will have access too. And i'm not sure i want a country (keep that in mind, it is an arab country, not a private company) that recognized the taliban pre 9/11, most of the money to finance most of the terror operations of the last 20 years or so, and had 2 of the 19 from there. those things didn't happen out of a love of the US, and even tho they have been "playing ba

Last week, I listened in as President Bush rushed out to inform the press and public that his Dubai deal was just dandy and we should once again trust him. Later we learned that Bush had just become aware of the Deal himself and was as uninformed on the details as you or I. We were told that there was no security threat and we should just go about our business.

harcon...i wrote an article on this blog ablout hemp as fuel,,,you can find it here... Link actually, there are many reasons to legalize pot...and very few to keep it illegal...this article, and that one, were merely 2 reasons...thanks fro your comments,,,most appreciated:)

i am curious as to why the only politician you cited was an obscure (to an american) irish politician...and you didn't differentiate between father or son...which one is the extremist and why? and if you are irish (or british) why not suggest an example from more than 1 side of the political fence. it would seem to me to only ostricize 1 politician from party is in itself an emotional plea also, the concept of politicians playing on emotions

one of the points that i was making that in the big picture, actually smoking is secondary...i am glad you got the point and i believe you do indeed have the "spirit" of the day...take care:) one other note about sources....yeah, stoners are unwilling to give themselves up like that for various reasons...but it mostly comes from a "close the door behind you" subconcious that we all suffer from...a little tip,,,find anything grateful dead or ph

i was curious to your thoughts on tehe steeler draft now that it is much closer...they seemed to have gotten their need at RB met with Staley....i still think the boys would be better off getting a corner from free agency rather than the draft, so i would go offensive line in round 1, as that is hurting for the steelers.

hey jamie,,,that was clever,,,but if you know anything about teh church of the sub-genius, it is all about bob, and slack. i doubt william hung will ever replace that...it would kind of be like mel gibson replacing christ for the christians. maybe i'm wrong,,,i dunno,,,i'm just gonna go create some slack for myself or something, lol.........take care:)

Today is 4/20/2004. This is the counterculture's favorite day of the year. For this is "Four-Twenty," the stoner's holiday. Today, more people will toke up around the world than any other day. It has happened every year. And every year hundreds of millions of people around the world enjoy the holiday, with the aid of some good smoke and their favorite piec
