As far as I know, you cannot change the font for just windows explorer. The font used for it is the main system font, that also is used for buttons, tollbars, menubars, etc. If you change that font, every thing else that also uses that font will be changed as well.

I am totally stumped here! The area I am referring to is Explorer and IE > Additional Explorer Sections > Drop Down Background and Mouseover. For the life of me, I have no clue what they are supposed to be skinning! Also, they both have 5 image states....is that supposed to be like that? Even for the background? I figured out where the View menu item is used. It also has a 5 state image, but the states must not be in the right order! The only

Don't suppose you have any hints as to how to just change the background color for it huh (in the absense of an image)?
Bebi, you could also open another skin that you have in SKS that has the jump list skinned and see what images are there for the jump list...it is a 3 part image...a

UPDATE! I got rid of the dang thing, using MalWare Bytes. I went to their forums, and found very specific instructions on how to get rid of the Trogen. Here is the link to it: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=66064 You will not be able to download the file from the infected computer. Just wanted to alert everyone about a very nasty piece of malware out there! My companion was the recipient of this "nice" piece of software. He is running Windows 7, 32 bit. He has no idea how he got it. Anyway, it takes over your whole computer, and you cannot even open any executable on your computer. It tells you that your computer is infected...it even takes over your desktop. It disables eveything. You cannot even get into safe mode to t

In SKS: Explorer and IE > Explorer Info Pane > Search Field Background > Extra Settings. The address bar uses the same font and font color as the Search Bar.
Should I just continue on the same skin then on the new pc but create a substyle for Win7 ?? I havent made any substyles yet since I havent really understood why.... I have still got the old pc whith the same sks7 so That´s not a problem... You should know I am very thankful 4 your support !
Yes, just continue with the same skin you started. I would suggest you complete the XP skin before you make the Win 7 substyle...that way, you won't have to m
Can I finish my xp skins in SKS on my new PC- Win.7 64-bit?
Yes, you can...I have SKS 7. Just make sure to make separate subsyles for XP and Windows 7. You will need to test the XP version on a XP machine, and the Windows 7 version on a Windows 7 machine. I make all of my skins in both XP and Win7 versions from my Win 7 machine, then I load the blind on my XP machine to tweak it. You will have to have the same version of SKS on both of
As far as I remember, you cannot make the start menu pop-up menu transparent...it has been this way since forever! Those menus have to be .bmp. If you need transparency around the edges (like for round edges), you could use magic pink (255, 0 255) in those areas, and skin studio will read those parts as having transparency.
Your reply is greatly appreciated. I have used your advice and have managed to improve the background font size/visibility on several of my favorite skins. However this is not quite so simple, as you pointed out, as many areas are negatively affected. The final result revolves around a compromise. The best approch is to correct the system font first and then to go to the start menu. A genuine cry for help w
The explorer window, by itself, cannot be changed...it uses the default font identified for the blind. The default font is used throughout the blind. If you want to change that font size, keep it mind that all parts that use the font will have its size changed too. Having said that, to change the font size in Skin Studio: Select Change Skin fonts from the menu on the left. Click on the fonts listed there and look on right to see which font applies to Backg
I use PS7 as well, and have no issues with windowblinds...I am using WB 7.1 on Windows 7 and XP.
Congrats to all...well deserved all! [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]:sun:[/e]
As a skinner since WB4, things have changed a lot with skinning. With the advent of Vista, and then Windows 7, skinning became more time-consuming. It takes me about 2 weeks to skin XP, and another three to four weeks to skin Windows 7. I am not complaining...it is just that there is so much more to skinning Windows 7, and most of the images used in XP cannot be used in 7, thus, in essence, I am making two complete blinds.
Thanks for the pick, ID! Congrats to all of the other featured skinners....well deserved! [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]|-)[/e]
ok so does vista and blinds not get along or is it me? I've noticed that the pushbuttons won't display correctly no matter what I do
This is an issue that affects both Vista and Windows 7. The way I get around it is to not have any spaces between, above, and below the buttons. I also square the edges off on the buttons. It sucks, but that seems to be the only way to "fix" it. The images themselves can still have transparency and be saved as png/t
How do you make a short start menu as I have seen in many screenshots?
To decrease the number of programs you have listed on the start panel (and thereby decrease the height of the start panel): Right click on the taskbar, select Properties. When that window opens, select the start Menu tab, then click on the Customize button. At the bottom on the right, is the place where you can decrease the number of program items. Click OK. Be sure t
