I will still be skinning for XP...it is the OS for my laptop, and unless/until the laptop crators, I will keep using XP. It doesn't have the WDDM drivers, so I can't take advantage of aero on it; thus there would be no reason to install Vista on the laptop. When I get Windows 7 later this month, and get it successfully installed, Vista will be gone. Currently, I am using Vista on my desktop, and don't want to have a dual boot system. So, I will be skinni
Vista is a very limited OS to skin, 7 I doubt will be any better.. In addition, for the skinner, its half or 2/3rd as much work again, for the same skin. Thats not taking into account 7 around now too.
I agree with John 100% about the added work to make Vista and XP skins. When I was making just XP skins, it took me about 3-4 weeks to make the skin. Now that I also make Vista skins, the time is almost doubled, if I start from scratch (meaning I

Well...I am a really old geezer...I was born as World War 2 was ending. I grew up in the 40's and 50's....life was WAAAAAAY simpler then! My children grew up in the 60s and 70s. It was much easier on us parents to raise our kids, then it is now. My kids are really having a rough time raising their kids...I sure do not envy them. My oldest grandchild turned 21 yesterday...and will be starting a family of her own soon. I have commented several

I had just moved to Florida in August, and on that day, I was sitting in orientation for my nursing job. The Director of Nursing came into the room, and told all of us that the Towers had just been hit...and told us that we could go home...the orentation was postponed until the following week. I sat glued to my TV all that day...in disbelief...looking at all that carnage. To this day, I am still in disbelief that someone could attack us that way. <span style="color:

Xiandi, I use SKS 6...and am running Vista with IE 7 as well. The Favorites menu still has to be a bmp. What I do, is use the Start Menu Pop-up Menu for the Favorites menu as well, and have never had any problems. Are you accessing the Favorites menu from the Menus > Favorites Menus > Background?

Well, I start my blinds with a start menu....probably a bizillion of them have gone into the trash. If the start menu is acceptable to me, then, and only then, do I proceed with the blind....it is very rare that I toss a blind...I may re-work it a thousand times before I am satisfied with it, or I put it aside and come back to it another time. I generally use Photoshop for the start menu, and then complete most of the blind in Paint Shop Pro.

Try this: In WB 6: Click on the colours tab on the toobar (next to visual styles). In that window, click on Change system colours. In the next window, there will be a drop down menu that has various colors used in the blind. Scroll down to the Menu text...hopefully, it will show to be black. Highlight it, and then click on the change colour button...make your change. close out of that window, and then click on the Apply Changes in the Colou

I am in the process now of updating some of my older skins that were XP only to both XP and Vista. When I get my copy of Win7, I will be uninstalling Vista, so I will only be able to make skins for Win7 and XP from then on. (I pre-ordered Win7, so I should be receiving it sometime in October). I have no idea how to make my desktop dual boot for both Vista and Win7. As long as I have the same laptop that I have now, I will continue to make skins for XP...Vista will not
Also, are there tricks so I can hide the text that says "Log Off" and "Turn Off Computer"?
If the area where the text would go is NOT transparent, you can use the color of the area for your text...then it wouldn't show...at least, this used to work for me. But if it is transparent or has multiple colors, then you are out of luck.

I have PSP 8, and have used it, in conjunction with Photshop 7, on both XP and Vista, and have not had any problems. My philosophy is why fix something that ain't broke! [e digicons]:sun:[/e]
Quoting Sc4rfy, reply 13 From your image i think you must enlarge the caption because the system icon is too much big for that text background Yeah, and I find it very annoying... I'll leave it as is for the time being though and start working on getting the buttons in order.
For the system icon, I find it better to get rid of it. In UIS2 frames, you can delete it. In per pixel, I find you can't delete it, but you can set
I decided to try do something with this skin again... And I got some of the bugs fixed, but where the heck do I sort out the icon problem shown on this picture:
This is looking good mick! For the titlebar buttons in SKS 6: Edit titlebar buttons and window frames > edit per pixel buttons > standard buttons > system icon (for this button) > position All of your titlebar buttons are adjusted here. Good luck!
Nothing is being extracted from the .wba files either. The only blinds I have in Window Blinds are the ones that came preinstalled, none of the blinds that I downloaded are there. Even though I get a dialog window saying abc.wba is being downloaded, nothing is showing up anywhere, no .wba files, no extracted files, nada. That is where the problem is. I am not getting anything; if it was extracted to the Window Blinds folder, it would be fine.
I just looked at your profi
I do understand that, but I cannot find the downloaded file anywhere on my computer, to put in the folder.
If you just single clicked the red download button, you will not have the wba file on your computer....the blind files are extracted from the wba file when you download it. The only way to get the wba file as a download is to right click the download button and click on "Save Target AS" and then select the folder you want to down load the wba file to. T

Hey Jim, this is looking good! One suggestion, though. Try moving your start panel to the right about 5 or 6 pixels....especially since your taskbar doesn't go all the way to the edge of the screen. I move all of my start panels to the right, regardless of how the taskbar looks....my preference, though.
