That's awesome. Congrats to you both. The Army (and Marines) do things a little differently: since we wear rank on our collars, and there exist pin-on rank... So, the double-fist-drop-to-the-collarbone is pretty popular. Or was, at least, until our previous 1SG got squeemish at the sight of blood on SGT Oswald's BDU t-shirt.

Congratulations to her for soon receiving the fruits of her hard work and dedication, and to you as well, for seeing your support of her pay off and the fact that you have such a wonderful woman in your life.

Way back at DLI, I had the fortune to train under a SSG before he was promoted out of his position of teaching us. (Upon attaining SFC, he went from being our MLI to being the head MLI of the other Middle Eastern school house.) He once relayed this story to us: There I was (no shit) [/obligatory opening] in Saudi Arabia. He had been assigned a local military driver to ferry him around between the US base and the consulate (or embassy, or wh

May He keep you and yours safe, friend. (I'm disappointed that I didn't get a warm fuzzy reference after my name, but it's not you that I'm disappointed in, it's myself. I may resolve to be more warm and fuzzy this next year.) I don't care what every says about you... Happy Holidays.

Just wanted to drop a line in and say, "Happy Holidays," and check this out (a simple look into traditional Christmas festivities in Iraq): Link

SPC Egregious and SPC Chat Bunny wanted to go, too. (CB's motives = also suspect) Personally, I'm wrestling with my feelings over any prospect of me going. I mean, I'm not going any time soon, not with this unit, ever, probably. Still, I could probably arrange to go, later. I'm proud of you for going, grey.

The video? Haven't seen it (and only saw a cut down version of the English release video). But the sounds of their voices in Russian is a sight more titillating, honestly. It's that extra edge of "exotic". (Russian language version of that song is available on the LP, as well.)

Can we (as in JU) adopt Greywar and his platoon? I think that'd be great...each person could send stuff as they wanted to. You should expand it to "deployed portion of his company," some of us are still back here and don't need things as badly as those forward. Also, there are some electronics guys (r

I don't know that banning these sorts of networks helps *anything*. 1) It can be construed as a suppression of free speech. 2) It adds more fuel to the fire for those on the fence over the issue; if they feel that maybe these networks aren't supporting terror, they may wind up feeling that the US is simply stamping out voices of dissent instead of actual threats. 3) If they ban al-Jazeera, how am I supposed to do language training?

I wanted to send stuff to Talisien, but it's kind of odd to get care packages from a total stranger..... If you check out his blog, maybe two or three entries ago, you'll see that a chunk of the state of Pennsylvania just spontaneously sent him stuff. He's already used to getting stuff from strangers.<

Now, this won't help you out unless you're in the Greater Fort Hood area. Madman inexplicably doesn't have an online presence, and in fact isn't listed yet in the Yellow Pages. It seems to be a newer gaming store focussed specifically on console gaming, even those that are no longer produced. Featuring a wide variety of games from XBox, GameCube, PS2, PS1, Nint

shouldn't you be bowing and scraping to me as the lord of BlogKlan or something? More like standing at your right hand, oh Guardrail Jesus.

This would be why you didn't answer your phone when I called earlier. *sigh* I had finally gotten the courage up to call, after weeks of neglect. Your littlest one has a present waiting with us after you get back. I'm sorry that we hadn't gotten out to see you sooner.
