Note the bolded country. How many reading this blog know that China offered to help the US after the 06 Earthquake, but were refused? I think that was very small of the American Administration at the time. 06 earthquake? You lost me there.

The problem is, there ARE people in government whose job it is mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery before, during and after a disaster. People should expect them to do their jobs. It was my understanding that many of the reserves that would have been there are now off in Iraq. No one could

Surely, if the government can investigate the illegal use of steroids in professional baseball, they can also investigate the president of any wrong doing in his handling of the war in Iraq. I agree with you but I don't have much faith in prosecution.

I was wondering when this post would pop up. One day I was in the negative. The next day I was up over one hundred points from where my last standing was.

This is a difficult call because stability is a hard balancing act in the ME. Does stability come with more troops or less of a presence? A good follow up would be to discuss what happens should another country become targetted. Technically Iran has but if they happen to just get missled one day, well than things would be interesting. Good questions will be: Is there enough interest to repeat the events of Iraq in Iran?

I've watched for a long time the as a the economy shifted from a manufacturing to a service economy. I think the angry young man with nothing to lose is part of the equation. Gywnne Dyer's books Ignorant Armies and Future Tense touches on this idea. He also expands on these comments by introducing a third party (america) which locks in the current regime with business negotiations. This produces desperation within the people as the only thing

I'm curious where you pulled that article from. I took 'Rumsfeld COSCOM Town Hall Meeting in Balad, Iraq' in the google engine and came up with this unflattering piece from a year ago. Link A shorter combination yielded this Link Again, not a flattering view. I searched on the DoD site and came up with nothing.<

What would be cool is to lock you with RH in a room and let the story unfold. I'll tape it and sell it under "reality" tv! Oh how interesting it would be! People would pay money to see it. If you get chewed up I'll put in a phone and let mod man in on the action. Beautiful.

Colorado has a pretty good mountain biking community. Too bad you'll be there only in winter. Oh and watch out for any displaced Utah residents. They will morminize you bigtime. lol If you like vodka and peanut butter, stop in and we'll scheme!

I'll do a looksee when I have more time. But remembering the best places to start would be the Kosovo incident. Was the blackhawk down thing under Clinton's first term or the end of HW's? I can't remember. Another good place is to look at which senators lead the impeachment charge which left a bad taste in some people's mouths. lol

Could you provide us with some material as to how you came to that conclusion? That's a pretty extreme prediction. I figured we needed casualty figures closer to Vietnam before public sentiment would drift. If I am reading you correctly, are you also saying that another attack would revitalize sentiment where some nasty piece of legislation might get passed through? Something like the draft? It would take another national tradgedy before something like
