Hi night Train, dunno what's causing your issue, but I just installed it and it knocked out IE, IconX and IconPacker, maybe other stuff too but I didn't bother to check and just uninstalled it. Everything's working fine now, but obviously there's an issue somewhere with it, so hopefully somebody with some knowledge will come along soon with some insight into things. Nope...MS updates never worked on FF, but Daiwa, I had a similar problem a while back and was told to clear the browser cache, reboot and try again....maybe that'll work for you also. Good luck

Yeah, Bash....don't waste your time with ME, it's one bad OS and you're better off going with XP until Vista comes out proper. A friend told me some time back that his company went with ME for a while and had never ending trouble wih it, spending literally thousands on IT personell before realising they were better off ditching it.

Ditto.....it's not like Vista is ancient history being dragged from the vaults, now is it? Vista is the centre of attention right now cos it's the immediate future of Windows....and of course, people want to know more about it. These articles help towards making a more informed decision about whether to upgrade from XP or not, so it would be a diservice not to provide the service, now wouldn't it.

Yeah, definitely, Norton since 2004 is a serious system problem and needs to be evacuated from your machine. Trouble is, it is so invasive and gets into EVERY nook and cranny, so you need to 'clean' install Windows to effectively remove all NIS/NAV components.....anything less will result in strays remaining. I have no objection whatsoever to the Windows Validation requirement, but I didn't have to provide any keys when I did so. When asked if I wanted to validate my copy, I clicked yes and an Active X component was downloaded to my system which must have scanned it for authenticity. From that point on, all I do is click on yes to validate and I'm taken to the download without delay. Seems like a simple and fair enough process to me,

Patch...my system seems to load faster with WB than it did with the XP default, so perhaps there was another cause and a fresh install of WB wouldn't be a problem. As I understand it, WB uses less resources on start-up than the defaualt XP, and by disabling theme support in Administative tool>Services> themes, you might find it'll speed things up some. I fairly new at this myself, but have read this advice in articles and forum posts here.
