My first was on my 24th birthday.....and to be truthful, still cant forget it 30 years later On my third now and couldn't be happier, let's hope you and your intended have many happy years together. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 AL

That's sad..."lunch is rising"....anybody 'd think these skins contained subliminal messages with: "I love Bill Gates and MS."....Or perhaps: " You have food poisoning." And here was I, thinkin' nausea was caused by something noxious or obnoxious. Tho I do remember an incident in an art gallery with a way out there abstact....t'was subsequent to a heavy n

My first puter experience was a bit over 2 years ago....the MS walls were sad so I began with changing them...switching to 'classic style to change the colour scheme from the sad XP Blue. Then I discovered Desktop Architect to change icons, cursors and more....but it still wasn't enough. Wouldn't apply the startup and logons in XP. I needed more! StyleXP was the next step...but what was the point of it when applying alternative

Seems this thread has gone way off topic. Darlene: I had similar teething problems with ObjectDesktop, but through a process of uninstalling the whole thing and reinstalling the components one at a time via Stardock Central, I found everything to work ok and have never regretted my purchase. If you use the link yrag provided to uninstall everything, then reload and test each component individually, you'll most likely resolve the i

I'm also awaiting the final release of the newly christened Vista, but unlike some, Im glad that MS didn't try to compete with Apple and push out this long awaited OS too soon. Microsoft has been subject to a great deal of negative opinion regarding the delays, but one has to wonder how many will have egg on their faces when the final OS is released and is proved to be a better product for the extra time taken to ensure users are happier cam

Thanks, yrag....will try your suggestions...just gotta wrap my newbie mind around the methods and processes According to the bios...the new sata drive now shows as a master and the old one a slave...but in admin tools>disc management, the old ide shows as system drive C: and the sata as non-system E: That would suggest I need to install sata drivers, I th

Not on XP disc...as far as I understand it, I need separate drivers that are apparently on the Motherboard install disc...just don't know how to extract and install to relevant files. Be nice to know answers before loading my proggies and etc. Could yet be another trip to a techie..just not the one who failed to install correctly last time.

Bit the bullet and rid myself of NIS/NAV problems with a clean install...all else failed in resolving those issues. Done clean installs before without issue, but.... Problem now is no NTLDR and no bootup...must leave in motherboard disc to start system and unsure how to restore NTLDR, with or without another rewrite. Not long ago I put in new SAT 160 gig HD to serve as primary boot and replace IDE 40 gig, but being newbie had pro

Stupendous Man, I was in the bad books with my other half twice in one week, very early on in the piece.....once for 3 days , and once for 4 days. After that..... WC was like 'the other woman' and disliked with a passion, but all the tantrums and dummy spits were futile, objections fell on deaf ears, alternative plans were thwarted, as this obsessive compulsion overtook all that stood in its way. If perchance there are still objections and

Sadly, it's not aliens we need saving from...it's ourselves. And those most likely to do that are the aliens, who have obviously evolved beyond some ill-conceived notion to destroy eachother over religion and petty political differences. Gotta go now...visitors arriving shortly...better cook up the Venutian truffles they beamed ahead

Right on. Tarkus....the competition is required to provide options and lower prices to consumers through a non-monopolised market. Manufacturers are also driven to perform better when there's healthy competition, so yeah...ditto. As for Longhorn (Vista), well MS is such a massive organisation with unlimited resources. it could embark on a number of alternative ventures and still adequately source whatever is required to the new OS. <br

Satyrobe.. the idea's not so much about profit but the community as a whole supporting WC....that's the hope, anyway. If skinners were to donate premium skins to the cause, in the community spirit, to help keep WC viable, everybody wins. "We need more premium products less boring". With so many quality skins that are not premium, that is far from the truth and not complimentary to all the skinners who freely share their works here. <

Now come on, Bash there's more than enough violence and aggression through man's inhumanity to man, without taking it to the aliens, who can most likely give our butts a thorough kicking, given they have the technology for interstellar travel and much, much more. Seems you've been given a false sense of security from "Independance Day"... and the Go'auld butt kicking antics of SG1 <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Laugh.gif" bo

I don't care, so long as it works and is practical, the name is irrelevant and is only a handle to separate it from other Windows versions. With previous mention to the automotive, let's just hope MS make it a peoples Windows and attach a Volkswagon rather than a Mercedes price to it.

Ok, Bash...I'm curious....this site makeover question.... are you by any chance putting out feelers to see if you can have an artistic hand in it when the time comes? Well put it this way, given your efforts and enthusiasm, you might have a chance at some input if it were offered At least you'd be offering something constructive and it'd be appreciated.<br/

Thanks for that, Jafo....I was wondering about that aspect. Obviously, naming them 'shares' would unnecessarily complicate matters However, perhaps the concept could still work if the said 'shares' were made available only to subscribers, aternatively named and never made redeemable for cash returns. Having clearly stipulated this, surely it would remain an internal affair, subscribers supporting their own community, and a public float isn

Dunno about the legalities or if anyone has thought of it before, but how about if subscribers could buy shares in WC? However, if it is stipulated that such shares have no cash return, perhaps things would be simplified in legal terms. Standard subscription = status remains the same. Subscription + shares = premium skins to the shareholder? Each share costs $2 to $5 (say), and 1 share = 1 premium skin? Or p

Ozzy....I was not being personal. Constant whinging has a cause, often it's far removed from the topic at hand, so the suggestion was to look at yourself before finding fault in others. Trust, respect and co-operation is a mutual thing....give and you're more likely to receive. In part, true, money makes money....but as was pointed out to you, there's just not enough here, and the challenge was put to you to either put up or provide somethi

very well put, MD.....been saying much the same thing myself, just a bit differently. Frustrating tho...the people who need it the least are the only ones who take note and heed the advice Emails to the relevant area is definitely the way to go, but me still thinks a 'bitch tank' is necessary for those who, by nature must complain regardless and d

It seems we might have some alien life forms here at WC And not because of any of the alienish skins submitted that could suggest 'somebody' is homesick, either. Some 'individuals' expect the admins to perform super being, off the planet functions.....like telepathy and matter manipulation is the norm where they come from. Dunno if th
