Jafo, I've had the same happen to me....but not just with explorer becoming unresponsive and showing 2 instances in taskmanager....so maybe it's an internal thing rather than an external. ThemeManager is another that freezes on me and shows 2 entries when only one instance can be running. This has been a very recent thing and I wonder if it's somehow connected to recent OD updates, as this has only been occurring since the last updates around a week

Apologies to all the skinners who I've downloaded skins of and didn't any leave comments. As I understood it, unauthorised msstyles could only be applied in XP with a third party proggy like StyleXP: or, if they were ported via Windowblinds. If msstyles can't be applied in Longhorn, I guess TGT Soft will have to reinvent and rename StyleXP to accomodate its customers who upgrade to Longhorn. Perhaps Stardock will acquire some converts to OD as a result...given its greater skinning versatiliy without system hacking.

Surely, if no copyrighted images were used, a Star Wars WB could be made without issue. As I recollect, there's already some original Star Wars WB's posted here (Episode 1 by Allen Bond being one). So with Bootskins, logons and cursor sets also using the Star Wars theme, you'd imagine the same could be done if somebody were inclined to create a SWars WB/Suite. Seems to me, given the feedback here, NIS went to pot after 2003. I had no problems until the 2004 version displayed many of the issues you've all described.. One has to wonder if they sacrificed qualiy and stability for new features, or whether we were the unlucky ones who got bad copies...some friends and family members say they've had no issues with NIS 2005, whatsoever. Thanks SD, I shall look into that asap. Update: after informing Symantec of the situation with DesktopX and yesterday's update resolving the issue, they replied by email to thank me for the feedback on how their product can be improved. Maybe, and I mean maybe, they'll work to resolve conflicts such as this, either alone or with Stardock. We can only hope, I suppose.

When I was running Nortons Internet Security 2003, I experienced no such problems and had a relatively trouble free internet experience... barring a browser hijacker that came with downloaded MSstyles from a certain site. I went to Stardock Central with the idea of uninstalling DesktopX (given your experience, Joe), but instead downloaded the available updates, hoping it would help, and viola, a system scan is now running. User options and greater flexibility built in....as in to have or have not. For example, built in auto-hide for desktop icons for those who have many and don't want a cluttered desktop. I recently purchased an OEM version of Norton Internet Security 2004 and have had nothing but trouble with it from day one with the antivirus component refusing to perform manual or scheduled system scans. So far it has been installed on 5 occasions, and each time this is the result.
