On ship selection, I just had an idea: When you mouse over fleets / the ship point indicator, you get a list of vessels and the associated numbers (sova x 3, kol x 2, etc etc etc). Why not let you somehow "lock" that tooltip on (a mouse click, but how?), then click on a ship class to "scroll" through the ships in that class same way you'd scroll up / down an info card report (the things on the lower right hand of the screen).

You could imagine that by the time this game is to take place efficiency should be at 100% or better! Once you hit 100% efficiency, there's no where else to go but down point: solar energy orbital stations orbiting the sun are inefficient, solar stations based in earth orbit connected hard line to the surface using an "elevator

Yes I too cannot seem to fire any kind of weapons at pirate cruisers. Again, did you by any chance just play the tutorial? There is a known bug involved with the tutorials and having troubles with combat afterword.

BTW, just to make it clear, I have a G15 plugin that lets me display my RAM / CPU usage "on the fly" while I'm in the game, and it does separate my two cores out, and neither of them was maxed -- it wasn't a case of one core maxed, the other's relative inactivity dragging down the combined percentage.

For me contradicting the official story line is very hard unless the storyline is something that I find absurd. Same here... what I'm referring to is something like the Master of Orion series, where there is a back story, but it doesn't dominate the entire game (and therefore the stories that come from it).

(Such as fan fiction community) Eh, its almost better if you don't have a story, let the fanfic writers minds go wild! Of course, I'm having trouble with that ATM because I have to figure out a story that won't contradict the "official" story too much when the time comes. Which is obviously just about impossible.

well since you are generally zooming in on planets/stars I've been known to zoom in on enemy fleets in FTL in an attempt to figure out what I'm looking at... generally doesn't tell me much, thanks to the graphics of the jump. Its wierd, whereas my ships loose their jump animation (the corona thingey) half the time (its SOP for half the fleet not to have it when in a joined jump) the enemy never seems to have that problem.

where would the energy be stored? really efficient batteries? "Beam" it to a local planet. Or rather, to a relay station closer to the planet that isn't as likely to suddenly "loose track" of its target and scorch the planetary surface (preferably the station would also split the energy stream into multiple "beams" so that if a beam did loose track, the devastation would be minimized).

I tried to indent my paragraphs but it didn't seem to work. How do you guys do that? Online, the accepted format is the double space between paragraphs, not the indent. Hit your enter key twice.

how to reproduce the solar power like in spiderman 2 the movie. Its called fusion power -- solar power is utilizing the radiant energy of a star, in Spiderman 2 they wanted to to harness the actual atomic process that the sun uses to produce that radiation. And while I'm not 100% sure, I'd be quite willing to bet that antimatter power is much more powerful than fusion power. And then a kind of comando unit that can ha

Hey all, I'm curious if this is the case for others. Do people use the reports (the infocard is that popup window on the other side of the screen ) much? or do you find it's too irritating to have the camera moving around all the time? I use it all the time. Very, very convenient. And its not like it changes my camera orientation, which would drive me nuts.

I think its fitting , as the gravity well is quite large... Imagine the battles, the BATTLES! Which is part of the reason I just love fighters, and carriers, so much. Hehe.

no sorry that isn't what i mean i mean total fleet size not ship type. ie you have 30 points in ships, you can build 50 points in ships right now it is a guessing game There is a counter of used and available fleet points at the top of the screen... so what are you asking for?

Now, now, let's all remain friendly. Friendly? Oh, we're plenty friendly! Thats why I built this, ah, fireworks launcher! Yeah, I'm going to put on a fireworks show right in the middle of Emporer's base, complete with a grand finale "big boom!" firework!<br

Personally, I generally just stick a couple of carrier squadrons (with a sova "flagship" on my star and call it controlled. Drop some Kodiaks at the inbound entry point (supported by some flak, robotics, and command cruisers) and the enemy really gets the point. And its also a great way to train any capships you happen to construct -- if you have marauders on, the carriers are constantly killing stuff, so the enemy is gonna get hurt, constantly, which means nice XP for you. Just

they should put these things in the tutorial so we don't have to have a long thread about it. Ah, but my making a long thread about it you get it "on my mind" enough that I may have a solution! Or, at least a few ideas: 1:3/3 Or, add a number set at the top like 1/3 to indicate research / max, while the bottom has researched:qued

Also, if i hear inbound hostiles, id like to see a small flashing icon for that given planet on the empire tree, so i would know which planet needs my attension instead of zooming out and searching. Use the info cards, thats what they're there for! (THe cards in the lower right of the screen split your alert log into 4 seperate "ques", and by left and right clicking on them you can "scroll" through the events in each que. The incoming enemy alert goes
