Oh come on, how can you be such a MOO3 apologist? The game was shipped without a working AI. The game isn't fun. Its graphics are right out of the Apple II era and it gets a 6.7. Why? Because it happened to be called Master of Orion. If it were called anything else it would have gotten a 2. You actually make the point for me. Light Weight Ninja got a 3.9 from the same guy. Stardock is a nobody to them and Light Weight Ninja isn't a popular franchise from a big advertiser.

So Gamespot gives MOO3 a 6.7. If MOO3 were called 'Space Administrator' it would have gotten a 2. Is it possible or a hyped game to get a low point score on these so called review sites??? Look at Gamespot's review closer: Graphics: 5. A 5?? It has dots for ships in it for crying out loud. How could the graphics be worse? pre rendered aliens do not make good graphics. Sound a 7. A 7??? How in the hell can you give it a 7? The annoying beeps and Atari-like explosion sounds
I bet 90% of the players here would never even play the game multiplayer. And regular players would be even less likely. People desperate for a 4X MP game can go play Civ play the world. Gee that game turned out swell too. Or try HOMM 4 multiplayer...
I was wondering abut that. I have the GalCiv gamma nad MOO 3. GalCiv has a lot more animation. More cut scenes, better alien animations, better planet rotating animations. Everything in the the game seems more alive. The only thing is missing are little dots dancing around shooting each other. GalCiv explosions are better. GalCiv battles look cooler to me.
I am still upset about MOO 3. I had waited a long time for this game. I kept hoping that if I just kept playing, the fun would start. I did get over the learning cliff but then ultimately the game is just a hollow shell of no real AI or game play.
Just for kix I started up a game of galciv and just hit the turn key. Tiny galaxy. All AI set on incredible. Game starts: 2178 AIs start attacking each other: 2183 AIs start attacking me: June 2185 My units are dead: July 2185 Home world invaded: Nov 2185 Dead. That's 84 turns to till death. But only 5 turns after they declared war. In 5 turns they killed me and conquered me. So it looks like GalCiv on a tiny galaxy you get 80 turns freedom. Most
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?postid=1779246#post1779246 Sorry to spam your board Stardock. If it's any concilation, I bought Gal Civ because I was waiting for MOO 3. I've given up on MOO 3. Look forward to Gal Civ.
The fun in Gal Civ is that each game really and truly plays completely differently. It doesn't get stale.
Gal Civ is a turn based game. I would't play it multi-player anyway.
Fredrik, play MOO3 for a couple hours and then look at Gal Civ's cut-scenes. The most absurd thing is that Gal Civ is supposed to be the game from little guys and MOO3 from the juggernauts. But the quanity and quality of cut scenes in Gal Civ are far superior to what is in MOO 3. Really. MOO 3 cut scenes don't even have sound effects. You should see the user manual for MOO 3. The credits for programmers and artists dwarfs what was on Gal Civ. Sorry to rant but MOO 3 cost me 50 bucks and was some
I'll tell you why I won't bother to post it there. A, negative posts seem to have a habit of disappearing there. I've answered 3 polls over there and all of them disappeared within hours. B, there are lots of people who have said the same thing. C, the response is predictable. I will be told how I need to give the game a chance. I will be told how I'm too stupid to get it. I will be told that it's a game for people who like depth. The game doesn't have depth. It's just a train wreck mas
I purchased MOO 3 today and starting when I got home from work until about 5 minutes ago I've been playing. I am not sure play is the operative word. The game is more like work than play. I don't dare post on the IG forums. I don't need some snot nosed kid telling me that I just need to give the game 40 hours of my life so I can understand the damn thing. It's already ducked out over 6 of it and I've had enough. Maybe I would find I liked it after 40 hours. Then again, proba
Quarter To Three known pretty well for its objective no nonsense reviews, especially on strategy games, doesn't have much (or anything) nice to say about MOO3. Here's the link: http://www.quartertothree.com/reviews/moo3/moo3-1.shtml I'm on the fence about MOO3. I still plan to get it the first week out unless there's more reviews like this. The review says it's a 60 minute review but it's pretty obvious he spent many hours playing. It's either a case where the rev
This came up in my game today. The Arceans were fighting off me and the Drengin on a gigantic galaxy. Me and my Drengin allies had almost the entire map. The Arceans had about 9 star systems left with a good 600 billion people. But they surrendered instead of dragging the game out another hour or two. Makes the game much more rewarding. On the same thought, I wish GalCiv had a retire option. The aliens get to retire. Why not us? I want to see the end screen stats without having to be
Eh any publicity is good publicity. Why alienate them?
Other than the space bar bug, this build has been pretty stable. But that is a very big BUT. Overall: Very compelling. The game seems to have achieved a really epic feeling to it. I really like the new invasion options . I cannot picture conquering a planet with 80 billion people with transports that can only carry 5 billion people without using mass drivers! Bugs: Ships on auto pilot that are supposed to target a resource or star base sometimes end up on top of them.<
With Masters of Orion now coming out at almost the same time as GalCiv, I really think Stardock needs to seriously consider delaying the game's release by at least 4 weeks. Based on what I've read on both and from playing the GalCiv betas, I think GalCiv is a far superior game to MOO3. But I'm going to also buy MOO 3. It's a MOO game. 'nuff said. And I bet I'm not the only one. How many mag covers has GalCiv had? None as far as I know. It's going to be succesful as a sleeper title
I'd like to see GalCiv delayed until March.
Strategy First publishes some good titles but what exactly is their contribution in GalCiv? The box?
Huh?? In what way are MOO3's graphics better than GalCiv's? Show me a screenshot of MOO3 that makes you think that it has better graphics.
http://www.ina-community.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=252218 What's funny about some MOO fans is that GalCiv fans are actual people who have paid money already and are playing the beta now. No secrecy. GalCiv's a kick ass game on its own merits. MOO is how late? Each build of GalCiv makes me more convinced that on a game versus game basis that MOO3 has a lot to live up to.
Two words: Super models.
I've been playing strategy games probably longer than Mr. Lame has been alive. GalCiv is probably the first game that keeps things interesting. As long as there are multiple races still alive with a decent economy it's anyone's game. The surrendering feature that the ai's do is something i wish More games would do.
They look great. Wow Apolyton looks like a cool site! Never knew about it until now.
I would like to see them start taking more lists for 1.1 and let us know when 1.1 would be out.
