JMBdev, Neil, wow, thanks for the quick response! I would gladly give up NVIDIA Desktop Manager for ObjectDock but now that I have turned it off OD crashes immediately every time (ObjectDock has encountered....send report...blah blah blah). I have a remaining process (nvsvc32.exe) which even Quick Processes says I need for the display board. Should I heave even this overboard?
Spagnacious
I am a big fan of Objectdock (who wouldn't be with all the user brain power pushing it's value). My new system has 2 displays and therefore requires software support. I am using NVIDIA because it it came with my XFX display card. It works well and Objectdock works well but they don't seem to be playing well together. Objectdock is crashing 3 or 4 times in a 2 hour period. Especially if I move dock entries around. Also Windowblinds 5.x seems to lose all concept of available screen size (right bor
Jeeze, I guess Neil's email must have died.
Thanks Guys! Quick response which is what someone in confusion wants. So....to recap, distance off the background "surface" is a function of the icon frame space, not any parameter in the background.ini. Once again Stardock leaves it to someone else to solve the problem. Let's see if I have this right. "Let them all go out and modify other people's art to make sense on our platform". I left this community months ago because I could not stand the lack of support in any form but "wink", "yep, we d
Can anyone tell me the parameters to adjust to get Icons to sit "higher" (in the case of a bottom dock) relative to the bottom of the background PNG? ....please TIA
Thanks Daiwa...it helps just to have someone acknowledge that one isn't COMPLETELY crazy! I agree that the Help Tab with real information would be a great step forward. Also my ever present plea is that they would just put an "EXPAND ALL" button in the generated Spec HTML so that the document could be searched....could it be THAT too expert level. I should mention that the typos in my original post are mine, not my hypothetical Ad
Daiwa, once again you have a REAL answer AND are willing to take the time to give it. I probably should put on asbestos before saying this but I have felt this way for so long that it just has to come out. The information environment surrounding Stardock products is absolutely the weirdest I have yet to run across. I can remember the early days of Pronto programming and how desperate we all were for information but it was NOTHING compared t
Anybody know which WB parameter sets the font size (and maybe font type)? I have changed every parm I can find in SKS to no avail. You can change it by using the Desktop Properties. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to get my first skin out. TIA
Wow, Chris thank you so much. That's VERY helpful and took some work to put down. Thanks again! Sorry for the delay in response....took a few days off to go to "granma's" house.
Sorry for the lack of link. I have never actually tried to use one before. Guess I'd better start learning. The number of the post keeps changing (I think) if you use the link in thomassen's helpful response, it's #57 and I am just looking for the bottom ObjectDock dock. The black line in the middle of the icons. Thanks for your patience.
Anybody know why these links are broken???
I tried adding this request on to the end of "Show Us Your Docks" but I don't think anyone is looking at that any more. I am trying to find the dock that ChristGal220 has in her SS (it's post #47). It's a black stripe through the MIDDLE of the icons. Can anyone help me with this....please!
Can anyone tell me what dock christgal220 has on the bottom of her dancing girl black dock screenshot (#57)? The one with the black bar going through the icons. I can't find it anywhere. TIA
Thanks Corky! I looked at the SysStats site but couldn't find any help type stuff at all. Kinda reminded me of another place I have in my URLs I am looking forward to your next missel on OD. I have your current one printed out, dogeared and scribbled all over! Hope you got to be a Christmas Pig <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smi
I have been trying to get a handle on Docklets in general and SysStats Docklets specifically. I still can't figure out the proper file structure. I know that docklets go in the Docklets folder but do they each need their own sub folder? Various authors sometimes use folder names in their zips and some don't. If I use SysStats it really gets complicated. Some SysStats docklets have their own *.spl files with the same names as others. Are they
Found 'em!!! Diafragma, you are right, they are all I need!!! (for now ) Great work! How about a little colorizing tut. Happy New Year!!
Can anyone tell me where to find the "glass coffee table" looking dock backgrounds (green black and clear) showing in Diafragma and Webgizmo's posts here? These are a very cool bunch of docks! TIA
Guys, could we pretty please get an "Expand All" button on your UIS Specification .htm generated out of SkinStudio so that we can search this document to see what goes where? I think I am on Santa's Good list and it would make me VERY happy!
I am still trying to make this work. I have Iconpackager running fine and it seems to work without a hitch. Please guys, is this known to work? Can anyone give me the name of a skin that is known to have this parameter working? TIA
Thanks again and again. I am starting to see some light on this. I still find things that seem to change for "no reason" and things that simply refuse to budge. I was thrown off completely because I used to make a change, apply the skin and then look at my current app to see what happened. Well my current app is usually SKS which doesn't conform to ANY sizing changes to speak of. It shoves itself up under the Taskbar (or the top of the screen if you mo
Mike, thanks for the information. I must be doing something wrong because when I change the size on some of those images, the areas refuse to change size when applied. I will keep trying. Thanks again at least I know I am not fighting a constraint! Sir Bichur, thanks for.....
In an effort to be succinct and clear this question is "fill in the blank". The maximum size (h x w) for an image to skin the below items is; Task Bar= Task Bar Button Bg= Title Bar= Title Bar Button Bg= the 4 panels of the Start Menu= Any others you might know= Thanks much for the noob hep out!
Once again, thanks Daiwa. I am really not trying to give the Stardock folks a bad time....I am begging! This is complicated stuff and "documentation" like blogs and HTML pages that won't expand all the way so they can be searched and other kind folks' out of date tutorials as substitutes is very frustrating. I would think they would want new users to be able to get the hang of it so that the skin base would grow and give support for increas
Night Train, I tried your suggestion but it seems they have deactivated that section. The parameters are there but greyed out and when you try to modify the parm...you can't. PLEASE, Stardock, could we have some decent documentation!
Very Cool! Thank you! I knew there were some shinanigans afoot. How sad to have one of the areas you NEED to look at so much every day be so hamstrung in its clarity. Oh Well! This brings up another area of mis/non understanding for me. Are 'classic' parameters in effect even when an area is skinned and Windows is NOT in classic mode? I always leave the (WB3.x) fonts and colors inactive because I never run in Classic mode. How deep is this c
