Since mid-late games have players spamming all kinds of support cruisers, I wouldn't call LF obsolete after a couple minutes.

I don't like the idea of "No light frigates". If you just depend on your colonizer cap ship to clear out that volcanic/ice world, your opponents will have colonized half the map before you are able to move on. They are a must if you get stuck with nearby terran and desert worlds.
I am an advent player and i often spam carriers-illum. For me, the best advantage of the illum is that it can attack the ennemy capital ship in the same time they attack the light fregates using their side beams. Your adversary would have to make a critical choice soon in the battle : does he retreat his cap or not ? Ok, you can have the same result with assaillants or LRM focus fire (particulary assaillants thnaks to phase missile) but you won't tak
how do you build more than one SB in a GravWell. Should not be possible. Also, try a singlestar-system. It will make entrenching a littlemore challenging. olli
You can build up to 4 starbases in the gravwell of the star.

Where in the unity did this come from? I did start a rant after a bad night of losing three games when players quits instead of asking for help from their much bigger allies but I don't remember ever submitting this.

With clustered structures, I would place them in front of the direction of a hostile phase lane. Maxxing out your weapons, armor and fighterbays can leave you with a starbase that can be totally useless if the enemy can take your planet, destory your stuctures and builds theirs away from it. When fighting the Vasaris, I prefere to use srtucure upgrades along witth the contruction and docking ports to build and support Orgrovs when fighting a Vasari Kotsura. Againts

If you're going to resort to namecalling when someone points out a flaw in your idea then this discusion is done. The Kotsura moving around can be heavily exploited since it moves so slow compared to the rest of the fleet. By the time it actually gets to a certain point, the planet is dead, captured and mines are now placed in orbit for the rest of the fleet to arrive.
um.... just a simple change here guys, but... what if the starbases could orbit the planet? yes, now they move, the orkulus loses its unique advantage, but not really, by orbit, i mean it can move around the gravity well like a moon, staying at one uniform distance from the planet, but can swivel around? atm i cant decide whether to let it orbit by itself like a moon, or just to give it the ability to change its lo

Try to get both levels of the third level shield and armor techs if you're TEC. Advent can get their shields strong with just two military research bases which can be nasty with illum spam.

It depends on the size of the map and what planets you have nearby. Large, sparsly populated maps can focus on gaining more planets while smaller, crowded systems forces you to go military after your first colony. Asteroids are inexpensive to upgrade with with only one population upgrade while all other require two and some research techs in order to increase your economy. With that in mind, I consider an asteroid a half colony so three or four colonies are the norm

Be careful when upgrading fleet logistics. Each logistic upgrade will take a significant amount of your economy and there's no going back to the previous level.
