The racial powers do seem imbalanced, many are very powerful, some not so much... Ones I see as strong so far: Torians- breed like bunnies if you can take the econ hit, and with all those people- you can. Korx- get a nice tech lead and econ lead early on- couple of projects they can start early. Using freighters to scout as a good tactic as well. If you find a planet you can trade instantly. Yor- as listed above- that speed thing makes it hard to invade them, Yor

Yep- when this mega event is out, I think plague cure should be +1000000 on the AI priority, otherwise the player will eventually get an easy win.
I do think overall, your asteroid mines should be controllable via a menu, perhaps like a Ctrl-M hotkey, where you can change the ownership of all your fields, and perhaps upgrade them or give them away.
Perhaps the AI's should when getting spied upon, attack your capitals? Perhaps trying to spy on a capital shouldn't be 100% successful, more like 50%
Question- when on Thursday will it be out- need to determine when I take my trip...
One related idea: How about benefits and drawbacks, instead of being fixed, are random within a known range...
Is there a way to confirm your pre-order, and can you wait to DL the beta for a few days after its released (I'm heading out of town)
Honestly, I consider the Metaverse pretty useless overall- does Stardock use that for AI research- that's the only real use I'd see for it.
Who cares about the assumption- it's your game, and since it lacks MP, there's no reason to whine about cheese. Part of me thinks that MP would unravel a lot of GC's gameplay- as real cheese no one has thought about would be discovered. As for avoiding the optimal build syndrome- there are counters to each build, I'm sure. A heavy money strategy can be countered by a heavy building and war strat/rush, or maybe influence. Perhaps have an economic starbase upgrade in DA that can cause
My concern is can the AI handle this, or will this end up giving humans a huge advantage?
Sales tax is also a consideration, as well as by cutting out the middleman, you give an honest company like Stardock more of the profit, instead of giving it to unethical companies like Wally World or Gamestapo.
I don't see increasing their potential as hurting them, by as the time the morale boost hurts your pop growth, you have the people paying taxes already...
There's also decommisionning everything on the planet- doesn't destroy it, but it doesn't leave much for the enemy to take.
Actually if there's a big planet and a small planet in a sector, I take the big one, wait for someone to colonize the small one, then culture bomb to flip it.
Co-Sign. Minors and their roles need to be expanded. I'd love to see minors get one of those crystal events. Perhaps even allow minors to colonize after say, x turns?
why the farm nerf? I thought farms needed to be buffed, not nerfed. Also, what about a planetary defense buff?
Enjoy the spyware... (Check gaming news sources- EA is putting spyware in this game)
My concerns are more the AI then the UI. Don't implement things that the player can exploit the AI with...
Honestly, all I want is a PBEM option... Also, this game has one burning question to it- how good are my strats really- and not just vs the AI? You guys did a good job with the AI- but that question still burns. As for the people adamant- I think it's because the polls you did only included people who already bought the game and are active on the forum. I think there is a segment of people of there who would have bought GC2 except for the MP, and those opinions aren't easy to measure
Hotseat wouldn't be a large implementation of resources, since it's already there- so it's something that should be strongly considered- unless SD is saving it to milk us later (which wouldn't be a bad business idea) One thing I will say- in 2k9 when GCIII starts ramping up- I'd like MP to be considered then, since GC3 could be a big-budget item compared to GC2, and the engine is near perfect right now- only the trimmings aren't perfect.
HEre's what I think best solution would be to lower the build time of higher level factories, but keep cost the game somehow.
I like both of those ideas, though the first would need some real teeth in it to be effective.
I'd like to see the AIs try to go for a tech victory when they see one player getting way too far ahead, and they've reached a certain tech level, to try and "steal" the game.
I'd say the campaign in general is not something players care about, and effort should be spent more on sandbox-type issues. It may be weak, but I don't think many people care if it's weak.
HOnestly, I think the AI would be better off if in terms of capitals, it didn't build on bonus tiles under any circumstance.... If you're at the point where you're building a capital on a bonus tile, then you probably should just surrender.
