I'd set an AI behavior where at least for farming/research/influence tiles, it always builds on the bonus tile first. I'd even throw it in for factory tiles, as 9 times out of 10 the extra production offsets the economy hit. If a human would do it 100% of the time, I don't mind it being scripted.

Actually my fleets are usually stronger, so I try to find their fleets and smash them, then smash their planetary defenses while the transports get there. Since the AI doesn't build non-standard transports, I don't either... (this is something SD needs to work on AI-wise, the AI doesn't know how to design transports at all) I try hard not to exploit the AI.
Usually, I don't care about transports until I'm at war. My first priority is to destory their fleets, which I use bigger hulls for. I rarely build anything but the biggest hulls I can. Usually the AI ships can't damage the big boys faster then they build HP from XP. If I make cruiser-class ships, they're basically suicide weapon platforms, my big ships use massive defenses and reasonable weapon. I try to get DEF in the 50-60 range. I like having my smaller ships defend individually, becau
BOth are a waste of a slot- except in rushbuild situation for the Planetary defense. Maybe if Orbital manager gave unlimited logistics, and planetary defenses would be +100% and stack, they'd be worth something.
Yeah- I see problems. Perhaps influence shouldn't work on a planet you can't colonize fully, and there's a penalty after that depending on tech.
I bet the other 72% doesn't care because they DL cracks to get around it- which are easy to find. The only real inconvenience is that you patch a few days slower then everyone else. That said, SD's policies have their issues- but no system now can be perfect. I prefer SD's model to the current model most companies use. I'll say this, if I can't find a crack for the game, I won't buy it.
Question- for those who pre-ordered, are they going to have to pay more, or is the price "locked" for them?
I don't buy that a low number of people who want MP. I do buy that a low number of people who already have the game want MP. All those polls don't include people who didn't buy the game because it had no MP. It's why those polls are flawed.
Not to criticize, but I can see where "normal" difficulty giving the human an advantage might confuse players. I think "intelligent" should have been called normal, and adjust as needed. When I see normal in a game, I assume it means the CPU and human are even resource-wise.
They can always patch new things in. I say release before xmas. Only way I'd wait till after was for MP.
If they allow us to make 12 default races, and each default race can mimic the original races perfectly with the needed changes, then we'd be able to do it. I'd want to be able to modify the default races though, or randomize their traits some.
Predictions: The 2nd GC2 expansion will get a boxed release as a different title, similar to many other game companies. Those who get DA will get a small discount. The MP included in this will get them some new buys. Really, I can only see MP as a feature that would add customers, so SD is making the right business decision here. DA is more "preaching to the converted" I expect about 70% of people who have GC2 to buy this. Civ 3 did the same thing- they didn't get workable MP
HOnestly- there needs to be a better system. Unsure what would work though
MY guess right now- is that the two who bite the dust are the Drath and Korath... Who says they can't introduce something new and get rid of it quickly- do you really need two sets of Drengin? One is annoying enough...
Honestly, I prefer direct download- no sales tax, no Gamestop scrubbiness to deal with...
One properly designed battleship can by itself take out any squadron of fighters. Bigger ships comes in two varieties- either all-defensive tanks, or more balanced ships that can damage the other guys capital ships. I usually stick my megadamage weappons on medium hulls that can carry enough to pierce 50-60 def without being too expensive... Also, one other advantage of larger hulls- speed. A fighter usually can only afford to stick one engine on a ship, a bigger hull can have 3-4.
text and events, preferably some based on party choice
What the AI should do is give the farm away to get someone else to attack you... Either that or surrender to the strongest race that hates you. The AI should be better in determining "real" military strength, as well as capacity. I tend to do a lot of my shipbuilding after a war starts.
Saw two reviews of it- one gave it decent marks, the other dreadful. Usually one dreadful review without a great review to counteract it makes me think the game had some major issues for some people. I'm fairly conservative when it comes to buying games outside the company or two I fanboy over (mostly SNK these days)
I like all of those ideas... I'd suggest not tying trade in to UP as well. I'd also want an option to turn UP off.
1) I turn minors off. 2)I usually go Diplomatic relations to rush build Diplomatic Translators, then go Impulse Drive 3)Usually use the Korx- I like sneaky evil 4)Always a good idea if you can do it. I prefer to build and not fight till I get medium hulls out at least. 5) I don't do that, I take what I am given 6) I usually avoid the alignment stuff unless I need weapons 7) Good idea- I usually go research.
Tried playing as the Pacifists to get a nay vote?
I find the following options undervalued in my game... 1) Influence buildings. Starbases are more effective, and don't take up a slot. Solution: 300 and 700% influence tiles, increase effectiveness of influence buildings. 2) Planetary defenses. Generally won't stop an invasion. Solution: Decrease Build Time, allow to stack defenses. Maybe a +50% for each one you have. Increase Maintenance cost. Generally, on invasions- I feel the attacker has it too easy at this ti
HOnestly, I think the MP base would be about 30-40% of the regular base. Half people who already have the game, and half new players. The problem is, GC2 will be 2-3 yrs old by the time a MP expansion comes out, and people would be wondering why buy an old game- even if it would still look pretty good.
I still use them. My figuring is that any pop is a good defense against invasion. I only build farms if I have good morale and max pop though. Even not perfectly happy people get you money if you have enough banks. Actually if he jumps halfway away, you usually end up talking to the opposite side civ, which can help you tech-wise.
