There really should be a game option to disable the UP- I don't really think it adds anything at all to the game as its set up right now. That is something I wanted for the expansion- a UP that doesn't suck, or the option to get rid of it.

One thing we should do- is make a list of things the AI should NEVER do. These are things that can be scripted above moron level AI, since a player would never do, it's not bad to use scripting in these rare cases. 1) Use bonus tiles incorrectly when there are non-bonus tiles avaliable (I'm sure that's fixed already)

What things do you guys consider underpowered in GC II as we see it now- things you never build. I can think of a few things off the top of my head... 1) Planetary defense. THat thing almost never does any good for its opportunity cost. It really should make a planet a tough nut to crack. Maybe have it square root the attacker's invasion factor? 2) Galactic Guide Book. This comes too late in the game. This good should be avaliable at Stellar cartography I think...

The real problem- Missiles and Beams are what everyone uses, mass drivers don't seem to get used ever due to the fact it takes forever to make them useful (usually not until Nano Ripper) No idea how to solve the problem...

Amen to post #71, about what I was thinking. Besides, you could do the art semi-cheaply, since generally that genre PREFERS 2d art. The game would have to be MP though- that would really fill a niche- the only game I've seen even similar to that is Vantage Master 2- which was not that good a game.

Or perhaps it should be a modifier that can cause misses/critical hits, delivering 0 damage at times. Missiles miss the most, Mass Drivers the least (since Mass drivers are underpowered) Smaller craft are at a penalty to hit. (Gotta do something to discourage the big ship players- since that's almost always the way to go- and the only other solution I see to that is allowing people to build 2 ships/turn if they have the production for it, but even then I'd pump out Yamatos

Here's the rub: how does the purchaser of the used software know that they can't patch up? I've never heard of this before. Yes, Stardock loses money, and yes, this would hold up in court. That being said, the one who unknowingly purchases such will get a nasty surprise. I understand both side's position in this though. I understand why Stardock is being anal about this- since it does cost them money. This is a problem that will go away in time though. It will also only apply

I think the AI should have a hard-coded rule. Do not develop anything on bonus tiles other then a building that receives the bonus, if there is another empty tile avaliable... That's something 100% of players would do, and anything that 100% of players would do can be hard-coded.
