I was able to play on it also. I downloaded from SDC late on the 4th, it would be early morning on the 5th EST. I saw changes in the graphics on how ships looked before they were put in a fleet if a bunch of ships where on the same space. I played a whole game that ended today without any problems. Someone must have hacked the system and given us a virus! Just kidding. <img src="http://i

By Jythier on Trust me, I'm an accountant! I'm an accountant also. I guess that means I know everything too, right? NOT! Computer and video games are not bad unless they have excessive violence, (blood is everywhere and you get points for slatering), or pornography. I don't play any games rated mature. The same thing goes for movies, for me, I don't wath rated R movies and there are a lot of dumb pg-13 movies out there that don't have any plot

Sorry for posting what I did without checking around the forum. I did a little digging and found the thing about nvidia drivers and vista. I installed the beta 104.41 drivers and it works now.

I ran this game on a Intel core 2 duo 1.6 Ghz with XP without any problem. I then try to run it on a Intel core 2 Duo 1.86 Ghz with Vista (32-bit edition) and the game is unplayable as it freezes in a very short time from start, no matter what. I have the latest graphic driver updates. I have the latest direct x update for Vista. All my other games don't have a problem. Including those made before Microsoft told anyone about Longhorn, before it was called Vista. My graphics card is nvid

The thing is I have a Intel Pentium D 830 right now. I am looking at a Intel E6300 1.8 GHZ Cour 2 Duo. I found a web site that benchmarks the E6300 against mainly an AMD processor but also includes a Pentium D 900 series. The E6300 looks favorable. The test was done in August 2006 so it is dated quite a bit, in terms of tech. The link is. WWW Link

I already sent an exception log and my debug file to the email at "[email protected]", I just wanted to post it here in case someone had the same problem. I created a custom race and spent the maximum ability points for trade and chose the super trader ability. The game crashed to desktop the first time I looked at the trade screen. I also am using a bunch of different music. I added a lot of music to the MODS folder. I've been able to look at the trade screen before without a problem with th

I was just using one texture file for a weapon. I got rid of my .x file I made and just used the game's .x file but added my texture. It works now, (the texture part.) I've been using truespace, but I guess it doesn't export .x files the way Galciv2 wants them. Any ideas on a modeler that GalCiv2 likes and won't break my bank account? There's no way I can afford 3ds studio or Maya.

Well now the game doesn't freeze but the weapon is invisible. The textures are not showing but it is acting like it's there. I couldn't find anything detailed about creating the weapon gfx in the mod article, is there another source to help silly people like me with this situation?

I'm probably being an idiot again. I thought that the textures would be saved in the .x file by the program I created it with. Do I actually need to save the textures as a seperate image file but give it the same name as the .x file for it to work?

Well now I'm stuck for the moment. I've changed names refering to the new animation in the GC2TYPES file in DA directory, after backing it up of course. but whenever I test my new graphic the game crashes. Any help?

What type of .x file am I supposed to create for weapon animations, (binary, text, or compressed)?

Guess I'll just mod my own stuff and fix what you did then. Just in case the developers didn't notice: Disruptors are now back to being a big fat as big as my planet beam and phasors are worse, (among all the other stuff I have already pointed out). Why even bother putting new gfx in the beta if they are going to be taken out for the release?

14 Replies 8,959 Views

I just remember the laser techs and the plasma techs having different animations. The disruptors used to be star trek style. And all the other stuff I listed. And all of a sudden wham! Back to original. I was wowed by them so much and now they are gone. I feel cheated basically. I don't have any mods running or even on my computer. But everyone will probably agree I don't know what I'm talking about... so feel free.

I'm talking about the lasers have different gfx, the plasma, the disruptors, the phasers are a bummer now. They used to be bolts. The special weapon you get for being evil is different. And for heaven sakes... fix the speed of the photon torpedo if you guys are not going to put better gfx in at least. I'll get to retirement b4 it hits anything. None of them have been changed that I can see. All the Gfx/Weapons files are exactly as they were in the last public

My home planet takes 2 turns to build a factory. Everywhere else it takes 6 turns. Shouldn't they all be 2 turns? All my colonies at this point are the same type as my homeworld.

The great weapon effects you had for the beta are gone! Now it's just back to boring old beams. What happened to the disruptor bolts? What happened to the pulse weapons? Can you guys at least put them on the library download section so those of us who want them can use them? Talk about a bummer. Not that I don't like the game but this was a big let down.
