I believe this happened during the beta. I was a beta tester so I'm wondering why they didn't fix this?
uglycow
I got a message saying they were enamored by my culture and then I got all their planets.
I can't go to the site it tells me to. I get a "can't find server" page. What's going on?
I was a custom race. The Altarians had a bunch of the galaxy under their influence. I was the only "free" civilization. Then I get a message that the Dregin have fallen prey to my influence and I control all their planets. I only had a corner of the galaxy and it did not cover any Dregin planets. The game is on beginner difficulty level. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Well before I started a new game I put the mouse cursor on hardware and I havn't had a problem with it.
Well the opening video was great but halfway making a custom race the mouse cursor dissappeared. I didn't have it on hardware cursor but I somehow managed to change it to that but it still wouldn't show up. I exited the game. My mouse still wouldn't show up. I had to restart the computer. I shouldn't have a problem with this. I got the latest drivers for my graphics card. Here are my specs: Win XP Media Center 2005 1 Gig Ram 128 MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 6600 GT graphics
After playing EAW I get the impression they skipped the beta testing.
I was the ugly snot who made a big stink about tactical battles. Anyway, I'm sorry and after trying to overcome the bugginess of SW Empire At War I am glad to soon be able to play this game. I'm glad this game was actually beta tested.
I don't want the whole fleet to be attacking the same target at the same time. That is where strategy comes in. From what I understand the way battles are is both fleets target one ship from the opposing fleet and everybody fires until that ship is gone and then move onto the next one. I would like to see the computer assign a certain number of ships to destroy a target and not be overkill. If ship A can be destroyed by just one ship in the opposing fleet, ship B, without ship B getting heavily
Actually I do have the beta. I do enjoy the game, mostly. I'm frustrated with fleet battles but for some reason until a few days ago I thought the end product would have some kind of user control in fleet battles. I'm sorry for saying you don't know strategy that was me being a moron. So this will be my last post on the subject and if I can't say something nice I'll be quiet.
I have made my own games. Just because I post about stuff I don't like doesn't mean I'm out of touch. It means your getting a wider audience. Not everyone is going to agree. Of course I'm probably the only one who doesn't like what's going on with the fleet battles who is bothering to post. If each ship would target another ship then great. If it's let us watch the whole fleet target one ship at a time then we are back at the kind of strategy where we all stand in a line facing eachother and fir
Now I see why your so against tactical battles. You don't know strategy, so you obviously can't program it in. It's horrible if the entire fleet is going to target one ship and then move to the next. That just means the player with the higher tech level wins. Care to explain why you have an option to view fleet battles? I think you would save so much time and money by just having the battles like GalCiv 1. Or you could at least be able to assign a strategy to a fleet. Like: Targeting priorities
GalCiv2 fleet battles will be decided by the tech level of the fleet, not by strategy. You are better off leaving the nice looking computer controlled fleet battles out and just have battles be like GalCiv1. You could then focus on other aspects of the game you feel would make it better. Instead you are wasting resources on somthing a lot of players will not watch after awhile. That is, if you have an option to not watch fleet battles.
I am. Since GalCiv2 won't have tactical the only thing going for it, (as far as I am concerned) is the nice graphics. And that's comparing it to Space Empires 4. So Galactic Civilizations 5 might be comparable to Space Empires 5. Its a shame because I was starting to like GalCiv2.
Do you mean we have to pay money every year to get updates to games that we already bought! If that's true then stardock sucks!
For me, tactical combat is a must. If the developers of GalCiv2 don't want to put tactical combat in then I'll go with Space Empires.
On my computer it is listed in the demo section after I updated Stardock.
I just want the computer not to surrender as easily or to nor surrender at all. Which is where an option button comes in handy that you check if you don't want the computer to surrender.
I still get ships I have created in a previous game under a different empire showing up in the ship building screen. When I try to delete them I am told I can not delete the core ship designs.
What the freak? I am attacked on a planet where I have around 2000 for troop strength and a 74000 tech rating. The Dominion of Korax attacks with 500 troop stregnth and a tech rating of around 31000. And they kick my ace! Am I missing something. Is this a bug. Because this sure looks like a bug to me. Shouldn't the technologically superior race win. It always gives the dominion a 20 vs. 2 advantage against me before the battle begins. Win XP Media Center 2005 Intel Pentium D 3.0
I think there should be an option in the game somewhere that will make it so the computer will not surrender. I hate it when I am doing well and suddenly I get a bunch of star systems across the galaxy from empires I haven't even met yet. I don't think that's fun. It is very annoying. For me it ruins the game.
Something that has happened to me 4 times, and I have to restart my computer each time it happens, is the mouse cursor will freeze. The game will still run but the mouse is unusable. Even if I manage to exit the game the mouse will still not move on my desktop. This is very annoying. I have Win XP Media Center 2005 Intel Pentium D 3.0 Ghz 1 Gig RAM PCI-Express X 16 Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT 128 MB Graphics Card
I thought minor races were supposed to be in? I have never met any.
While setting up a game all races are still Federalists.
If I double click a computer player's planet and then select the "detials" button I can then select "destroy all improvements" and evberything on that planet is gone! I havn't tried the "destroy colony" button but I would think it would destroy the colony. That's some major power over the competition, and a bug.
