Dr. Guy, I'm sorry it just cracks me up everytime I see Alf on your blogs. . Sometimes I can hear his voice in my head. Should I listen? Anyway. Two definitions for two different types of joinings. I leave your definition alone you leave my definition alone

BakerStreet, Your thinking is correct in origination. That is definitely a practice from the Jews with the giving of the Hebraic letters Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey. Many Jews today use the name Adonai or Hashem when refering to the Almighty. Hashem literally means "The Name" referring to YHVH. These names are used to give reverence to the name and also out of fear of mis-speaking his name. So I agree with the three previous comments. As for

By the way, you are correct, it is a TOOL of oppression. But it is also a source, for without it (the source), it couldn't be used as a TOOL. I like your statement, but its not complete. Okay Fox how about this. Religion is one of the greatest TOOLS for oppression our citizens have in this life

right now we're comparing the Jewish Lunar Calendar to our Roman solar calendar. Then we're going to hit the 7 feasts of Lev 23 starting with Passover. Our calendar is called the Gregorian calendar because of Pope Gregory who changed it in the 1400's. Before that it was called the Julian calendar which

Religion is one of the greatest sources of oppression our citizens have in this life. Fox it is not the greatest source. I suggest restating it as this. Religion is one of the greatest TOOLS for oppression our citizens have in this life. The greatest incentive is belief of truth. But only enough tru

which is my main beef with orginized religion, I have called this SATANS greatest trick, dividing the religions and making each one think theirs is the only way to GOD> This way he doesn't have to mettle as much. They tear each other apart and causes disorder and chaos. When's the last time

My whole point was to just say "there are more than one path to GOD> many paths I think. MM I agree with ya. I see us all sitting in the same room. G-D sits in the center of this large room. To the Christians they only see Jesus who is the right arm of G-D. On the other side we have the Je

The light departs the sun, and we recieve it in our eyes. When we look directly into the sun, or a laser, what do you think the middleman is? BakerStreet, The light does indeed depart from the sun. I am not arguing that. My point is that you do not see the light again UNTIL the light reaches the moon and from absorbtion and reflection we see th

You'd agree, then, we wouldn't be able to see the moon unless light bounced off it Yes I agree with the quoted because the light wouldn't be reflected ie "New Moon". beca

If you point that laser pointer you mentioned into your eye and blind yourself, you'll realize it doesn't have to bounce off anything. Why are you arguing something so patently obvious? Baker, The rod cells and cone cells with in light absorb light and convert them into electrical impulses. You burn them out you don't see anymore. Everything do

What people also don't understand is that to assume something doesn't exist also takes belief. You don't KNOW there is no Santa Claus, you BELIEVE there is no Santa Claus. You may BELIEVE there was no virgin birth, but don't pretend you *know*. I'll agree to that.

Check out 1 Cor 5:11. Pretty strong statement made by Paul. Some sort of judgment has to be made for this to happen. Notice....."not even eat." KFC I agree with you this is not a condemning judgement this is protecting your house/family. I am greatly encouraged that there are some churches o

Is the moon visible during the day? Why not? The light being reflected off the moon is the same during the day as it is at night, but you don't see the moon because the light from the sun is brighter. That's strange where I live I saw the moon this morning after the sun came up. Maybe I live on a different planet too? <TABLE cellpaddi

Because the sun is a planet and it is round. The Sun is a planet? I thought the sun was a star and is round because of gravity. Maybe I went to the wrong school? Just

Ironic, you complained about your rhetorical questions not seen as rhetoric in the same paragraph as you answered my rhetorical questions. I asked those questions not because I needed them answered rather to make a point about intolerance. Jill, isn't it fun <img src="http://images.stardock.com/JU/smil

If you go out into space past our atmosphere, what does the sunlight look like? It is brilliant white. Color is completely irrelevant to this discussion. When you are past our atmosphere you see a circle as the sun. If (as you say) light didn't need to reflect off of something why is it a circle. If light is going out in all directions of the

On the contrary KarmaGirl, If light didn't need to reflect off of something why do I see the reflection of the moon. Obviously the light shining on the moon shows that the light came from somewhere but you don't see the light UNTIL it reflects off the moon. It's there. When a laser is pointed at an object than by your definition with no particles in the air one should see a line not a dot on the wall.
