There are two types of grace that are translated from the Hebrew and Greek Text. Grace- Pleasant, precious, beauty, etc. & Grace- Mercy, unmerited favor, compassion, etc. These are two distinctly different definitions found in the Hebrew and Greek text of the Bible. Hebrew: Chesed - unmerited favor (Strong’s #2

My point is, it occurred to me today that religion is applied metaphysics, and philosophy is theoretical metaphysics. This is a very interesting point. I think this is also the case and point of why we have such contraversy of what sciences to teach (ie evolution, creationism, Intelligent Design). Sup

No, No, No. You are looking at this from tainted lenses. Meat was never prohibited in the OT. Just the eating of blood cuz it spoke of the atonement, Lev 17:10-12. They ate meat. After thinking about this one a bit more I am having a little different view of this scripture (Acts 15:28-29). In verse 28

I believe we should be teaching 90% law and 10% grace which is unlike the churches today. I agree that there simply isn't much teaching on Law. Galatians 3:24 Says that the Law is to point us to Christ. This is pretty straight forward in my mind. Christ is holy and that is what we are called to be.

You are right little whip which is precisely what I am doing. I am learning greek and Hebrew. Will maybe dabble in Aramaic later as the majority of scriptures are writting in Greek or Hebrew. Maybe that's why I have such different view than most?

One of the reasons he picked the Jews was to call a people for his name that would be a light to the rest of the world, set apart. Also it was to bring the Savior into this same people. The jews were no better than the rest. They were human and did the same bad things as the heathens did. God did indeed have grace (unmerited favor) upon them. Otherwise they would be in the

And I agree with ya! But unfortunately I have to sift through religions to find out some of the traditions to better understand different things. Religion is based from man. My doctrine is the Bible. I know I don't follow it perfectly but I keep myself flexible so that I can change when I am presented with evidence where I am mistaken. But as for 'religion' I agree with you. I put my faith in G-D. Glad to hear you do too.

What is the purpose of knowing all this to the degree that you do? Excellent question. By digging into the Bible and understanding the scriptures written in the context that they are written one can then begin to understand the G-D of the Bible. The amazing thing is the more you dig the more y

You are right the Jews did look up to Abraham as their father because he is the father of the covenant. But he was not a Jew by definition. He is a Hebrew which under the umbrella is the "Jew". The problem with understanding this topic is that the word Jew has been used SO loosely that it is extremely misunderstood. Look up the definition of Jew. It will say an inhabitant of the Kingdom of Judah. It doesn't say of Israel. Also you will find in the definition of Jew that the were decendenc

KFC, You seem to miss what I say. Let me try saying this one more time. It is by faith that we receive the salvation. I know no believer will disagree with that. The disagreement is whether the law is done away with. You see the law as bondage and I see it as a blessed freedom! Now accepting the covenant given to those in scripture I have NEVER been more free. Nor have I been more blessed! <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%"

Lucas, My first question is why are you considering to join? Is it for charity? The reason I ask these questions is your ending statement regarding not being religious at all. If you are looking for doing charitable work ask yourself what kind of work you would like to be involved in. I am willing to bet that there are many organizations who would love your involvement who are not neccessarily religious based. Are you wanting to build h

Many people out there have grown up with the notion that Jesus did away with the “Old Law” and implemented a new law. This is very misunderstood especially due to the English language. I want to look at the root of this misunderstanding. Matthew 5:17 is the most often quoted verse to me so let’s start there. Matthew 517 ~ ‘Think not that I am come to

The Jews of course came thru the line of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and were circumcized. That was a covenant God gave to the Jews starting with Abraham in Genesis....not the Gentiles. It set them apart. This is exactly why I asked you this question. Two things. Abraham was not considered a Jew. The definition of Jew is a decendant of the tribe

Chrysostom claimed the December 25th date was supported by the actual census/tax records of the Holy Family when they registered in Bethlehem. We have no way to prove if those records were still in existence, or were authentic, but Chrysostom was not the only one who referred to them.Justin Martyr (100-165), in his noted Apology-a detailed explanation of the Christian fait

What was he reasoning and persuading? Yes they were worshipping G-D. I think it is often forgotten that during this time they didn't have radio, TV, etc. News traveled by foot. Not everyone knew of the first coming of the Messiah immediately. They didn't have mass newscasts. Just like after the ressurection and Jesus is walking with the dicip

The early Christians were worshipping on the first day of the week starting with the Resurrection Morning. So this would be around 33AD or so. The book of Acts shows they met, (most likely at night) afterwards on the first day of the week from then on. Here we go again? Quick thought. There is 8 references to the first day of the week. Four o

6. Genesis Affirms that God Made Man and Woman in His Likeness Why on earth would he wantto do that! The Genesis account is very interesting. The whole reason, we have the tracking of years B.C.& A.D., is because the day and year Christ is born a new creation began. Actually it is shown that Christ was actually born 3 B.C. When the Pope Gregory in 591 A.D. was starting the new dating he missed it by three years. Oops. As for the Sunday worship. If you look into the Catholic records Sunday worship didn't come to be till after 338A.D. That's more than 300 years after the death. Which oddly predates

Something I found interesting while reading this story (via the scriptures) is that Mary was not married when she gave birth to the Messiah. For we know that she was pregnant before they were married and Matt 1:25 says that they didn't have any relations until the child was born. In a weird way Jesus was born out of earthly wedlock. Anyone have any thoughts on this one? My thought is that G-D became the husband and father to the child spiritually s
